In a thread I posted on August 15, 2015 - “The Spirit Is Willing, But The Body Ain’t” other posters encouraged me to get back into competition.

I went to an IPSC match this month and I ended up in the bottom of the barrel against some really good shooters. BUT I was first in my category… just because I was the ONLY one in that category didn’t spoil my “victory”!:D

A few of the shooters took pity on me and invited me to practice with them, so the day ended up as a plus… new friends, a good time and reason to get more shooting in.

Yup, a good day… thanks to all….. Doc

You didn't give up. To me, that means you won. Kudos to you, and keep up the good work!

yep, not about what you shoot, it's about who you shoot with

Well done, SawBones! Glad to hear you made it out to the match and had a good time.

Outstanding! The two basic tenets to remember for new USPSA (NOT IPSC) shooters: You ain't a gonna win your first match, and You're gonna meet a lot of new people, and as long as you stay humble, a bunch of new shootin buddies.

Sounds like you stayed humble and are about to reap the rewards!

Dan

Now we need to teach you a thing a two about braggin online... You conveniently leave that bit of info out of the story...:D

Congrats on getting back in the game...

I'm really glad you're doing it again. You can't help but to pick up some new tricks. I've been hanging out with some long range precision shooters and they've given me some ideas. I've even tried Burger bullets, something I never thought I would do. Tried Varget, something I never thought I would do. Even started annealing my cases again. Go figure!

Some of the best friends I have made were at various Pistol competitions I have been involved in. They have helped me shoot better, faster and more accurately. As a result I have been able to help some new comers learn and enjoy the sport. Pay it forward!
