Dillon SD Pregnant!

About a year ago, I bought a used RL 1050 with quite a few dies on spare toolheads. When I disassembled the 9mm seating die to clean and inspect it, I found TWO bullets stuck in the die! TWO!

I load a lot of cast lead. Every so oftem I have to clean out my seat/ crimp die cause of lube and lead buildup.

I was decapping a bunch of 45 acp cases, and when I was finished I found a 9mm case stuck inside the decapping die (Lee Universal). It must've been nested inside a 45 case, an the pin just punched through the 9 primer and pushed it right up out of the way.

I have had that happen before also on mine.

There was a demolished gun in SASS. The owner was just sure he could not have double charged the powder. A couple of guys watched him loading and agreed. But after a while a bullet stuck in the seating die and he double shotted one. Would have been another kaBoom.

I'm certainly no stranger to making mistakes myself, but how do you "lose" a bullet inside a die though? Particularly in the case of the OP, at the crimping stage of all places? Certainly interesting if nothing else.

I've had a few bullets randomly get stuck in my seating die which forced me to disassemble the die to get them out (There was a small piece of lead inside the die apparently).

Love my Dillon's, but yeah.....sometimes they can hold & hide stuff lol

Although a tad pricey I guess........I do love the Dillon dies as well. A lot of thought went into their design....ease of use wise......
