Hey guys. My name is Gun Master, and I'm a gun-a-holic.

I've tried to determine the type of system of operation that the SCCY is based on. I know it is DAO, but can't even determine if the operation is blowback or recoil operated from the SCCY literature.

Does anybody know the answer?

A quick look on a "field strip" tutorial for the Sccy on YouTube, it appears very much to be recoil operated as most 9mm tend to be.

It's a recoil operated locked breech. It's basically a Kel Tec P11 with better cosmetics and a slightly better, smoother DAO trigger. Take down is identical to the P11. Why so similar to a Kel Tec? 'Cause SCCY was started up by a former Kel Tec employee. :)

I have several P11's which sometimes need a tiny bit of work on the extractor to function well (see internet posts explaining it elsewhere) and am fairly happy with them; I have a friend with a SCCY and he is happy with his. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; I like mine better. These are cheap cheap "bulk" 9mm lock breech tilting barrels as has been pointed out. I like the P9 even better.
