I heard this low-pitched whisper...Rooooooooooooodentmaaaaaaaaaaaan...

Something was calling me. It's an all too common symptom of that dreaded chronic ailment, the "I WANTS..."

So I acquired this 14-3 with SN 1K334XX. I think it dates to 1970. The grips have the SN stamped inside. Looks pretty good.

The box is 98% as is the instruction/parts list. Not dog eared or stained. Cost a staggering 12.95 for refinishing by the factory at the time.

Any other 14-3 lovers?

Very nice 14-3 .

Yes , I am a 14 lover . I have a -3 like yours and a -4 with the 3T's . I think that I like the -3 better .

Low pitched whisper? A Model 14 that sweet looking would be more like shouting at me: "BUY ME.. stop looking at those silly semi-autos and BUY ME!".

Super nice find along with the original box and paperwork. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks for the kind words.

Here is a picture of the box and a couple other photos. I know my photos aren't very good.

I traded for mine a long time ago when I could only afford to have a handful of guns around. It is one that lasted through all the years of needing to trade to get something new.

Howdy

I found this one (14-3) about a year ago in a local shop. A lot of guys throw the term Like New In The Box around, but this one truly is.

It was on consignment, marked $550. I asked if the consignor would take $500. I was stunned when he said he would.

It even came with the box.

Congratulations, beautiful gun! I shot mine just this morning. Tomorrow morning, I'll be shooting a Model 10. It's almost like a crutch firing the 14.

Driftwood Johnson

That right there is like finding buried treasure! At $500 for a Model 14 that pristine; that's one sweet deal!

I love those model 14s and have been keeping my eyes open for one for a couple of years, but the only ones I've seen were priced waaaay too high for me. All the ones in this posting are gorgeous and I'm just on the other side of jealous.

Looks pretty good to me too. I paid $500.00 for mine in similar condition a couple of years ago and I find it interesting that the serial number of your Model 14 is close to mine (K-3123XX), yet my research suggests that my revolver was manufactured in 1957. Maybe my research is wrong?

The prefix of "1" on my SN puts it much later than yours.

I took it to the range, ran 6 rounds thru it, just to make sure it works, which I really didn't doubt. Not saying it's gonna be a safe queen but I want to keep the usage low, as I have many others to shoot.

I will share the date from Roy Jinks' letter when it arrives. I also ordered a letter for my 41 which they told me on the phone dates to Nov 98

Yeah, I didn't pick up on that. My Model 14 doesn't have the "1" prefix. I'll be interested in what Mr. Jinx has to say (I also have a Model 41, Serial Number TB2 34XX; supposedly made in 1987).

I have a letter on my 28-2 which I desperately wanted since a 28 was the first gun I ever bought and like a fool I sold it a few years after I had bought it. It dated to 1972.

The one I got was made in 1976 and was shipped to Farwell, Ozmun and Kirk, which sold all kinds of stuff, like a Sears from long ago. Maybe they were a wholesaler. I I think they had a fire there, so it was Farwell to Arms.

Interesting that it was bought locally, and presumably stayed here its whole life.

I like them a lot. Top is 14-3 SAO #12K xxxx, Middle is 14-3 1K 23xx, bottom is 14-5. I'll try not to buy the next one that comes along. Joe

beautiful revolvers, they pop up in the used guns ads every now and then here in Italy. usually prices are affordable as revolvers are not that hot anymore.

So we are doing 14-5s as well? :)

I sort of bought it on a whim, as the price was very, very good. Boy did I do well. I so want a four inch one now.
