Opening day buck the small one for my combo tag at 7:28AM. 70 yard shot with Remington 870 slugger 20ga. using discontinued Remington 23/4” buckhammer slugs. 70 yard lazered shot buck ran 70 lazered yards. Took out both lungs and dropped the heart loose.
Some people would count the real short thing as a point.
T shirt and sweat shirt unzipped weather day time high temp was 63.

Probably the most comfortable opening day in my experience in Southwestern Missouri. Afternoon temps in the low 60's on Saturday, sat in a 16 foot high tree stand at sundown in shirtsleeves, and had a magical experience...

At sunset I shot a doe that became a button buck upon inspection! How does that happen??

A well, a table trophy nonetheless. The missus is a good cook and likes venison.

Considering a bonus tag for muzzleloader season!

I hear ya J-Bar, I was stripping off layers by 10a in Perry County. Luckily, I got a nice doe at 7:45a, in one lung and out the other. I ended with prolly around 70-80 lbs of meat.

Saw several opening day. I didn't take a shot at anything though.

Saw a buck yesterday, on the run through a field too far to do anything but watch.

Shaping up to be another warm day, with rain tonight.

Sitting in the blind now. The squirrels are enjoying the weather.

I'm going to deer hunt a few messes of squirrel when my deer season is over January 1st.

I enjoy chasing the tree rats as well as deer myself. :)
And eating them too. Don't get much better than squirrel and dumplings.
