Loading unsized new brass

I have actually never purchased any new rifle brass so I do not really have an educated opinion on that.

I buy all of my rifle brass new. I have to size and trim it before I use it. If I could afford Lapua brass maybe I wouldn't have to. Lapua makes great brass.

I always spot check new rifle brass by dropping it in the chamber. So far I've never had to full length size .223, 300 BLK, 30-06 or 7.5x55 Swiss. I do however run the expander ball into the case necks for exactly the reason that Starline Brass indicates.

Using new Starline brass loading my 50 A.E., I had to full length size the brass to get enough bullet tension.
I could just push in the Hornady 300gr. XTP's by hand before sizing.

If priming by hand, your sizing die should not need a decapping pin and would have allowed sizing after priming.

My observations and that of several others . . .

Other than sizing necks on new unprepared 308 Win and 30 caliber belted magnum cases for uniform bullet grip, they've all shot about half MOA at long range with 15 to 20 shot test groups.

All new brass is typically full length sized to smaller dimensions than full length sizing dies do.
