At an LGS I saw one in the case for $270, used. It was the stainless variety and looked to be in very good condition. No assistance around to let me fondle it. I believe it came w/ extra mag and holster. There doesn't seem to be anything recent about these on the web. Anyone with knowledge or experience, your input would be muchly appreciated.

Nice ccw pistol. Long discontinued but top quality as are all 3rd gen S&W. You may find the CS9 or CS45 in both traditional and double action only variants. Parts can still be found in places.

Buy it! If I saw one for $450, I'd buy it. I had a black one and it was fantastic! Shot great and carried wonderfully. Don't worry about the safety, just keep it off. The DA/SA is safety enough. I wish I had never sold it.

They are nice guns, always were. Someone is going to enjoy it, but I doubt it'll be you :D Anytime anyone finds a gun like this for what is obviously a great price and snoozes, it's almost always gone by the time they go back to try and get it. That's just the way it works.

As to the CS9 itself, while they are excellent guns, I've found that they are not significantly smaller than a 3913/14. The thick Hogue rubber grips (as supplied by the factory) relegate them to belt carry, and if you're going to have to schlep it on a belt holster, then the slightly longer grip of the 3913 makes more sense, as it is easier to grab and offers you an extra round of mag capacity.

I really like the stainless & alloy 3rd gen 9mm compacts. I would buy a VG+, decently priced CS9 in a heartbeat.
