How do you fellas carry revolvers in a business formal setting. Current job is very lax on dress code but I have a job interview with a rival company that is much more strict on the dress code. Gun in question is the taurus model 85 UL currently in a Desantis nemesis pocket holster but I can buy another if it should suit the attire better.

IMO everyone needs a reliable mouse gun for those deep concealment occasions when even a J-frame may be too big. The little Seecamp .32 is an elegant solution. There are also small KelTecs and Rugers. I like the NAA mini revolvers, especially the Black Widow and Pug.

JIMBO 555 -"Ankle holster is an option. Galco makes a good one. "

If you wear an ankle holster to a job interview, I suggest you do not cross your legs while being interviewed by the man or woman who might hire you. :what:

If you're never going to remove your jacket, you have a lot of options because the coat will help you hide nearly anything. If you're like most places that wear suits, you'll take the jacket off for most of the day (unless you're going to a meeting) which makes it a bit harder.

I found that a j frame in a belly band at the appendix position was the best compromise for me. You can wear it a bit low and let your belt help hide the grip, or you can slightly blouse your shirt (not so far that it hangs down and covers your belt, but enough so that it's not tight) and you should be good. Note that this is not quick to draw from, but it should hide well.

Another option I might consider is Smartcarry.

Would one of those tight fitting t-shirts with the built-in holster work under a shirt and coat?

I carry a 642 or a Colt DS in a suit frequently. Desantis Nemesis in front pocket or breast pocket works fine. Any decent IWB works fine, especially with a vest. I carry this way four or five days a week all year long. Is your revolver much bigger?

What you are doing now is very close to what I use (Taurus 85 U.L. in pocket holster) and it works fine with business causal/with or without a coat.

The only thing to watch out for in today's pants is the depth and width of the side pockets. You may have to have a tailor cut off the pocket(s) and sew in a larger/deeper one or two.

Old Fuff, your mention of a tailor is apropos. I've had my tailor sew 5" x 5" pockets at about 10 and 2 of sturdy fabric like canvas inside the waistband of my suit pants. Each will hold a small pistol or revolver, magazines, etc. it's like Mexican carry, but does not fall down your trouser leg.

I'd probably leave it home on interview day. Even in Texas, getting made at a job interview probably means you won't get the job. Worry about how to conceal once you have the job and know their policies.

DeSantis makes IWB holsters that can be tucked and work very well. They have one named the Tuck-This II. The price is not that bad and can probably be found for less from a different online store instead of from DeSantis.

If you think you want something just a little different use the search feature for your gun and see all they have that will fit your Taurus 85.

There are thousands of detectives and agents that carry business formal every day. The big question is:

Does the employer allow you to carry at work? I still wouldn't carry a gun to a job interview. If you don't and you find out he allows it, it shows your respect to his/her rules. You don't want to break rules before you even start.

If the employer doesn't allow carry at work you have to ask yourself a question. Is the issue about not carrying more important than the benefits from the job? If you're making 40k a year, no benefits, no sick time and 1 week vacation and you're being offered 80k a year, full benefits, unlimited sick time and 4 weeks vacation in a relatively safe workplace which is your choice? Carry my gun and not work here or take the job? Only you can answer that question.

Go to the interview without carrying. You have a lot of things to consider before you look for a new holster.

I'm in agreement with Sergei Mosin and GRIZ22 on this. Get the job first then see what your options are concerning concealed carry at work.

I agree with sergei, if the job interview is important, leave it in your vehicle. If the place is that rough then I'd look for other employment.
I brief case or "man bag" might work in an office setting.
Good luck with the interview, hope all works out fer you.

barry, I usually cary my 642 in a kydex FIST tuckable holster. but for deep conceal with your suit jacket off a SMARTCARRY holster would fit the bill and nobody will ever guess you are carrying.

good luck

I had a job which required more formal attire. It was the best (only) such job I could get. The office was ok , but the surrounding area was sketchy at best. Within the office, all doffed coats. No stated policy about being armed, if with strong hints of being "no" rather than "yes" (although I know all the purse carrying hands were packing).

My solution was the pocket organizer holster that is in the Blue Press catalog. Zipped up. it looked just like my computer tool kit, so both could be in my soft-side briefcase with no comment at all. Carried a 1911 to start. Switched over to a Colt .380 Government Model (not so much for the weight as for having gotten a great deal on it :) )
