Will existing AR-15's be grandfathered if the antis succeed in banning them?

This is a question that can't be answered.
As no-one knows if or what any new laws can or will be passed.

It's pure panic speculation at this point into it.

And it's not THR to start guessing.

If we do our jobs and overwhelm our elected representatives with our refusal to compromise our rights, the antis will not succeed.

Any speculation about potential bills without actually reading said bills is, as rcmodel said, pointless.

Agreed- pure speculation.
But one of the current candidates running for president has publicly embraced Australia's mandatory buyback program.
Current gun control advocates have the specific goal of disallowing the grandfathering of the 94 AWB (as discussed on yesterday's NPR's daily anti-gun diatribe).
We've got a temporarily evenly split supreme court. So much is at stake. It's so much more important now to join and support the NRA than ever before.
It's important to understand that the stakes are high and there's a very real possibility for the passage of harsh, even Draconian, gun control legislation which might remain in effect for generations unless gun owners make their voices heard.

If it is like the 1994 ban? Yes. If something different? Maybe not. No one can answer that question. But the logistics of requiring every AR in this country to be turned in and/or registered would be damn near impossible.

It's all just speculation, but here's a wild swing at a stat ...

Estimate 3,250,000 "assault weapons" in the US (and that's a low estimate). Estimate an average cost of $1000 (or is that too high?). That would mean it would cost the government approximately $3.25 billion to "buy them back."

I don't see that happening. I think either grandfathering or an uncompensated ban are more likely scenarios.

Have you seen the Federal budget? For 2016 it's 4 trillion dollars.

3 billion is a bargain for such a lofty goal of the current executive administration. If they thought compensation for confiscation would fly, they would do it in a heart beat.

REPUBLICANS HOLD BOTH HOUSES... there will be no ban.

Geeze guys, you sound like little girls.
