How is the accuracy on the axis barrels? If I'm looking to improve accuracy how high on the list is this to replace?

Savage barrels are known for accuracy. If yours isn't accurate, try different ammo first.

this is what my savage axis 2 223rem heavy barrel did 2 nights ago with reloads. 55gr v max. I have found 3 different axis rifles in 223rem like the 55gr v max. I have shot this combo 3 times so far and it prints the same each time.

The bad triggers are the limiting factor on the Axis rifles. The barrels are accurate.

If you get the accu trigger you will be okay. my stock axis 223 with sport barrel almost shoots like this too and its got a 5lbs trigger.

Barrels are fine.
Trigger and the BAD FLIMSY stock are the weak points.
I could blow a group by moving the bag a couple inches either way under the stock. 100yd groups could go from under an inch to over 4". Took awhile to figure out where the fliers came from. After doing some reading, stiffening and balancing the stock the rifle shoots GREAT off the bench or Offhand.

I did a thread on my Axis Project

By far the stock is the worst. I replaced mine with a Boyd's and did some in weld bedding. Also polished up the trigger and it breaks really nice now. In 25-06 it's a great overall gun.
