Gift ideas for gifts from non-shooters

Ammo. Specifically .357 Magnum, 38 Special, .45 ACP, .44 Magnum and .223. I am always happy to get more ammo.

Gold. Oil stock. Maybe some lead. Never asked for anything because I knew it wouldn't come. (Well, except of the toy plastic bullet firing Win 94 and the Johnny Seven, I got as a kid.) Now there's nobody to ask.
"...chance of a mistake in buying..." That's really not a big deal. All that stuff becomes trading goods if you don't or can't use it.

I would ask for a cleaning mat, ammo boxes,targets, those nylon sticks that go inside a rifle barrel and allow you to organize your rifles better in a safe, a pistol rack for the safe,safety glasses,shooting bags or rests.

Books all kinds of good info available

I just ask for gift cards to where I want stuff. Sometimes i need to add to it, sometimes I don't. No matter, it gets me closer to something I want.

I'd go with that, too.

Unless I can give a person a webpage link with the exact item in question, and they are willing to order that item, I'm likely to get something completely unrelated.

I have asked for a 12" ar500 gong. Tools and cleaning supplies are personal preference but a good gong would be good.

How about a nice EDC light like a Streamlight. Not too expensive and has both practical and defensive applications. If they don't want to carry it it's still plenty useful in a car or home. Most non tactical folk have no idea the advances in flashlight technology.

My daughter has a standing annual Christmas list for me. Targets and renewals for my gun magazine subscriptions. A few years ago I sent her a link for a gun that I wanted but all that got me was a big “FAT CHANCE.” I guess she figured that $30 grand for a full auto Thompson was a little over the top.

Not trying to be "over the top" but if you don't have one...a chrony( lots to choose from), a range finder (plenty of choices) , rifle rests for the shooting bench, a spotting scope.

These are a bit pricey on the upper end for any one of these but maybe several pooled their money...it could work out.

I would go with gift cards as well. I know, not very personalized but it does allow you to get the exact thing that you wanted; sometimes at a better price with after the holidays sales.

I'mGift cards or gift certificates to Bass Pro or perhaps Midway USA.

Otis cleaning kits, you can never have too many.

Lots of .22 lr ammo. you can never have enough.

40mm salt n pepper shakers.

I try to keep it in proportion. If the relative usually gives me socks, underwear, or a bottle of wine, I might look up a specific thing at brownells, midway usa, or optics planet that is in their price range.

I send them the link to page for the Scopecoat, or the Butler Creek lens caps, or the Boresnake. If they are really wanting to get me something special, I will send them the link to the Nill-Griffe or Herrett set of grips that I always wanted for my N-Frame.

Gift cards for any place you like are great, even if it's not for gun related stuff.

Why? Because gift cards represent money you can spend on things you need that doesn't come out of your pocket. So, a $100 gift certificate for, say, Sears means you can take $100 of your own money that you would have spent on things at Sears and set it aside for something else.

For specific gifts, you can ask for nominally non-firearms related things that you can use for your firearms hobby/projects.

Need to build a reloading bench or modify what you have for something? Lowes gift certificate. A specific tool you need.

Want a discrete bag to use for a handgun that doesn't cry "GUN!" when someone sees it? maybe a DVD player carry case or some such.

Been wanting to try your hand at making holsters? Leather and/or leather working tools.

Got stuff you want to buy off Amazon for your hobbies? Amazon gift cards.

Dude, your handle is WestKentucky but you say you live in Middle Tenn. Ask for some Tennessee Vol targets unless you went to the dark side, then ask for some UK targets.

Best price per round on ammo in ____ calibers (cartridges) from ____ (Walmart, Cabela's, whatever applies to the location in question.

Wish Lists they can search for by email on websites, Midway USA has a good wish list setup and has for awhile for example.
