So, if Trump is elected...

I have been buying 22 when the price is good. My wife shoots it more than me and she don't shoot very often. I load for six handgun calibers and two rifles. I buy powder and primers when I can. In the last five years I have accumulated enough components to keep me shooting for a couple of years. I cast my own bullets from free wheel weights. I will still buy if the price is good.

I was browsing Palmetto State Armory Friday and a lot of uppers are already out of stock
That's pretty normal, they come in and out of stock. We haven't quite gotten back to pre-Obama availability yet. Good availability, and good prices, but not quite back there yet.

The owner of our local shop told me yesterday that at the last show / meeting he attended, his suppliers gave him two price lists - prices will stay the same if Trump is elected - if HRC is elected, he's told price list #2 will be in effect.

I for one would certainly like to know which suppliers did that, as that's a bit on the shady side in my book.

Things are in great shape today compared to a couple of years ago, and we have the possibility of another Obama type politician being elected on Tuesday. That tells me people are not as worried about it as they were 8 years ago.
I don't see it making a big difference either way. Will some people react? yes. Will some vendors sell fear? Yes. Will I worry about it? No. Things are in great shape today compared to a couple of years ago, and we have the possibility of another Obama type politician being elected on Tuesday. You're right: they're not "as" worried; they're more worried.

I'm 63-years-old and have yet to see anything like this; this fear of what's going to happen a few months/years down the road. Never have I read of militias threatening revolution if so-and-so's elected (at least not on this scale), or people hightailing it to gun shops in droves to buy guns and ammo like there's no tomorrow (which, more than a few believe, there just may not be a tomorrow as we know it). Sure, Obama, during his first few years in office, put the fear of God into many a gun-owner's soul, but people in 2016 are without a doubt less secure, more fearful of what's to come than they were in 2008; there's no denying that.

A month into the unpredictable Trump presidency even the anti-gun people might be stocking up.

Don't know about that... The more affluent among them will most likely hire bodyguards or armed security to do their fighting for them if the you know what hits the fan as they themselves --*cluck cluck cluck* -- cower under their beds.

I don't know what will happen in the future with ammo prices, availability, or even the freedom to buy it. But I know what's apparently been happening in the past 30 hours or so; people are BUYING. My favorite big online ammo supplier was stocked pretty well on Saturday AM. 9-mm for example, there were numerous varieties with several thousand-round cases of each in stock, and even more varieties with 50 to 100+ 50-round boxes in stock. In other words, a LOT of 9-mm available, as has generally been the case for the past year or so. Tonight, it's essentially GONE. Very little of anything left except a bit of the cheap steel-case stuff.

Another telling indicator is that this seller maintains an estimated ship-date notice at the top of their page. It usually indicates estimated ship dates as the next business day, or if there's a "mini-panic" going on (like the Orlando shooting), two or possibly three business days in the future. Tonight, they are indicating that shipments for new orders are expected to be as late as the 14th.

So, somebody's buying in advance of the election. :)

Keeping my fingers crossed that D.Trump is the president elect even though I don't particularly like him.
That's the most worrisome thing to most this Tuesday: they're scared half to death of either Clinton or Trump being elected; and, depending on which side of the fence they're sitting on, they think the world's coming to an end.

Half the country will be upset Wednesday, no doubt about that. Very upset. But that is different than going on a buying spree like after Obama was elected. I still don't think it will happen no matter who wins, not like before anyway. And sure, people are very worried about the direction of the country. So am I.

I'm hoping that Trump's election will allow the resumption of import of the old milsurps. Demand is through the roof, supply is about gone.
I'm not sure there's anything left. The First and Second World War surplus was sold off. The old Soviet milsurp has been sold over the last decade, including captured arms. About the only stuff left are Soviet-captured pistols. Not that I'd turn up my nose at those...I'm a collector.

I was perusing my favorite ammo supplier's website earlier this evening ... apparently, and judging by the number of "notify me when back in stock" items, a large percentage of gun-owners seem to be stocking up on the most popular brands of .223/5.56, 9mm and .45 ACP range and personal defense rounds. 1000-round packs of the premium ball and JHP stuff, typically always available, aren't now.

Something's going on. For sure, people are hedging their bets on this election ... at least in terms of stocking up on the good stuff.

What people are doing is hoarding, which drives up the price of ammunition and makes it less available to the largest number of people.

It is a gift to the antis, and we do it to ourselves.

We wish...
Anyone here remember the riots in LA? The pro gun crowd gained a lot of converts that time around, just like we have over the last eight years.

Either way, I'm not panicked, and will not buy a dang thing is vendors raise prices all stupid like.

Like hso posted, only we can cause a panic.

Yep. I still have some stuff from before the first Clinton Presidency and his signing of the AWB.

The lack of support from the subsequent Republic POTUS and majorities in both the House and Senate "we" elected, (thanks for the help guys, let it sunset and kick the can down the road hoping for another huge turn out...) didn't make me feel any less inclined to "stock up".

Then after the 2nd election of our current POTUS, I come to find out I am no longer just a wise man but have turned into a "hoarder" because I do the same thing squirrels do every fall....

Legislation is written in the Congress and is passed by both the House and Senate before ever hitting that big desk in the Oval Office.
The best way to stop any panic inducing legislation is to fill the ears of those representing you with your demands for no more restrictions on firearms.

If Clinton wins there's going to be a long lasting run on everything firearms related.

I don't know how quickly she'll move to punish gun owners, but have no doubt that she will, and HARD.

Any chance you have seen any of the EO's our current POTUS has put into effect?

Keeping my fingers crossed that D.Trump is the president elect even though I don't particularly like him. I also hope he has some very astute advisers.

On guns and ammo, I am pretty stocked up overall. Have no overwhelming need for anything. Should Hillary win, any gun control measures will still have to be approved by Congress. That takes time even with support. Obama would have already done anything already that he can if Congress was not required.

I can tell ya that this is true- we've had this discussion with a few suppliers.

I agree with the second part, in time she will try her best to eliminate gun ownership, but I still don't see a crazy run starting Wednesday if she is elected. More demand? Yes. Crazy run? No.
