I have a Winchester SXP that I would like to replace the stock and fore end with an ATI adjustable stock and a railed fore end for mounting a light. I checked 922r against the parts list and it appears that replacing both the stock and fore end will put me under the magic number 10, but I figured I would ask here before I did anything just to be safe.

This link will take you to the owner's manual, the parts list is on page 25

SXP is made in Istanbul.

I don't know if this will help, but a Calguns thread on this. I just learned that it affected shotguns...

Does ATI make it specifically for the SXP or for something else that happens to fit this gun? You'd think they'd know about this if they're selling it, but I have no experience contacting them.

Has any end user ever been prosecuted for violating 922(r)?
I would like to know this, too

Unless I'm totally misunderstanding your question, putting an adjustable stock and rail on would not leave the shotgun in a non-importable state. IF the modifications you're making would make the gun not importable under "sporting" guidelines, then all the "making" provisions kick in and you have to get the total number of imported parts down. But if Winchester could have imported the shotgun in the configuration you want to put it in, then 922r doesn't apply.

Is an "adjustable stock" a collapsible stock with a pistol grip like on a AR15 carbine, or just adjustable for length of pull? The former would be a problem, but not the latter. It sounds like you are just doing what Winchester imports as the Shadow Defender model.

I plan on putting the ATI Scorpion stock on it, which has a pistol grip and an AR-style stock. I have already replaced the forend with a railed one and mounted a light on it. I hadn't heard of the Shadow Defender model, I suppose if they sell that, I should be fine.
