Hello Nathan,
I knew more than one LEO back in 1970-1973 who drilled out the nose on a 357 mag and put a reversed primer in the cavity along with a drop of Lock Tite. I never went that route I had access to Super Vel. Might even have some left. Empty boxes now sell for more than I paid for the ammo.

Hold your horses, nothing explosive here; just decent hollowpoints (that won't feed in my VZ58 drum for anything, but otherwise are good ammo)

Never had them expand or fragment like you would expect from a hollow point. They yaw just like any other fmj. Occasionally they break up after tumbling. At least that was my experience shooting them and into wet paper. Sure somebody has a gel test around the net.

What am I missing here? What makes them "explosive"?
If they are explosive we better load up all of our clips for our assault rifles. :D

Seems like it would be a good round for home defense, as it didn't exit the 16" block and dumped all it's energy within the first 8" or so. I would be curious how it expands at greater distances say 100-150 yards.

This was great ammo back in the 90's to early 2000's. I still have most of a case of blue box Barhaul 8M3. This stuff fragments like nobodys business.

I wish this new offering from SG was lacquer coated cases v/s poly.

I got to hand it to SG.... Sam constantly goes out and finds what ammo people want. One of the best places to buy ammo from ever.
