We all have certain ammo/firearm pet peeves.
Here is one of mine: Ammo for sale with no point of reference concerning its ballistic or chronograph results!!
I wanted to ask you guys for any potential info concerning these two particular ammo offerings:

1.) SAA -9mm 124 Grain GDHP Nickel-Brass Cased - SAA Personal Protection JHP. It uses a Speer GD bullet. Here is all the customer service rep said, "It's loaded to standard SAAMI spec pressure, not +P or hotter. I do not have chrono data from production otherwise!"

2. 9mm Luger +P 124 Grain Di-Cut Jacketed Hollow Point Black Dot Ammo By IMI of Israel 50 Round Box - 9mm Luger +P 124 Grain Di-Cut Jacketed Hollow Point Black Dot Ammo By IMI of Israel | SGAmmo.com TriCUT 124.jpg

+p and velosity means nothing. The speed of the unknown factory powder means more than how much peak pressure it achieves. Test barrels for factory velosity are about equally useless and most printed velositys are on the healthy side of perfect combustion. I have a cheap crono if you ever find yourself near mciver range in Mississippi.

Great info & I'm much obliged fellows.
I've been looking at some decent chronographs online...I may just invest in one.
My thing is...why not at @least list it?:uhoh:

Hate to say this but as NATO producing ammunition manufacturers go IMI just might be the best in the world. If the price is right I would give them a try.

Unlike other places, Israel is so small nearly every able bodied young person has to get involved with the defense of the nation. This level of defense mindedness translates into some very fine ammunition.

For reloading purposes IMI was very "hard" to work with. Primers came out reluctantly and the sizing die worked very hard to make the correction. Getting the military crimp out was extremely difficult. The stuff is DURABLE. And was made to function and last.

I have been shying away from it, but saving it, for months.

I have that first load, I believe, its the very good Corbon gold dot. A while back we had a "whats the best 9mm load" and that was at the top last I saw. it runs about 1200fps from a 5" barrel.

#1 - SAA ammo is surplusammo.com’s in-house brand. I'm a little surprised that they don't know their own ammo specs. But then, I'm naive sometimes. ;)

#2 - The spec sheet for your IMI ammo at sgammo.com says average 1180 fps at 15' from a 4” barrel.

Yes, that is rather astounding. When I was in sales I had to know my entire product line and my competitors as well. If not it was a handshake and these words, "It's been real, time to unhook Bubba, cause you no longer work here!"

I certainly appreciate the info, as my internet sleuth skills failed me this time.
The Power of Asking never ceases to amaze me!

Mjsdwash,
I am much-obliged brother!
I had a gut feeling they were some decent rds.
I took a chance and purchased 60 rds just for fun & giggles last night.
They have it for $12.95 for a 20 rd box.

Guess I'll go back for more now...;)

Thanks again!!

YIKES!
I'm a better shot than that, YET if I'd done that I'd been replacing it so fast it would make his head spin!

He did not offer to replace it BUT he allowed that he was very sorry........................Was not even a close friend but lesson learned.

Well they get many cases of boxes printed up. Potentially enough to last for years. If the printed specs for that ammo using this batch of propellant and a year down the line there was a diffetent batch with a different burn rate the specs would be diffefent. Easier to print a run of boxes that are more or less generic.

Hmm...I can see that, especially when counting the beans and the bottom line.

I can honestly say I haven't shot mine YET, but my SIL re-arranged one of the sun shade rods for me, so I had to improvise a coat hanger.

At the end that is all I had was four coat hangers (and four spares) with black and white tape to make them more visible. I also placed red streamers at the top and bottom to help me see them. I could have attempted 1000 shots at the sun shade rods and never made one but....

My Labradar was the best money I ever spent besides my spotting scope itself, besides guns and ammo of course!

I find factory velocity is pretty accurate to be honest, I have shot federal, norma, magtech, fiocchi and blazer mainly before reloading and tbh they post the truth on their boxes.

Heck, I had a box of sig 10mm the other day that was 50 fps fast in my glock 20.

Ed: posts like the one above mine make me wish everyone could get a labradar.

I would help by ME firing a crossed my chrono.
I, too, ONCE let someone fire ONE shot.
You guessed it, he shot my chrono.
He didn't even offer to pay for repairs.

That was the last time I let some one shoot a crossed my chrono.
