I have a Silver Pigeon 20 gauge which incorporates an auto-safety feature that drives me nuts. I've searched for a way to disable this "feature" and found a number of different approaches. Before I go hacking into an expensive shotgun, I'm wondering if anyone here at THR has made such a modification and wouldn't mind sharing their approach?

For those wondering about the feature, every time the action is opened the tang safety/selector returns to the safe position.

Thanks

You have to remove the stock, and then the bottom plate or trigger plate. This is so the screw holding the safety push rod can be accessed.
There is a small thin plate holding the push rod in place, you remove that screw and the push rod should come out, it has a right angle projection at one end.
Please note the push rod is square and not round. I placed mine in a plastic bag with a note stored in the butt stock hole.

And yes it is a pain at the trap range with that auto safety, now it stay's where I put it.

If it is too much for you to handle yourself, most gunsmiths will do it pretty quickly. Just make sure they take the bar out and give it to you. Had a close friend whose smith just disconnected it and left it in, after a few rounds the gun locked up.

I hate those things, none of my shotguns have them in place.

(Kinda surprised that one one has come in to lecture you on the evils and liabilities of removing a factory safety, LOL.)

The first time I took that shotgun to the trap range I was really happy they charged by the round and not by the number of clay birds I called (and never got a shot at) :)

Yep! Just remove the link is all. My sporting model does not have the link thankfully. Putting it in the stock hole is a good idea. Although my Beretta clay gun stock hole has a mercury recoil reducer and a stack of quarters to add weight to the rear. :)
