Ruger LC9s

The LC9s Pro is a great little gun for CCW purposes. I bought one for my wife and she loves it. I carried it the other day and I was surpised at how light and thin it was. I'm used to carrying my Glock 26. Not sure I'm ready to give up my Glock yet, but the LC9s Pro does carry very nicely.

Probably my only gripe with the gun is the mag release button is not very tall. I have to really depress it to get the mag to release. I would have preferred a slightly taller button so I could hit it easier.

Re: The rusty trigger

It seems to be a constant battle even with oiling or RIG grease. That's why we went with coating it to solve the problem. If you know anyone who does that kind of work, it's well worth it. Keep an eye on the slide serrations, too. FYI

This thread is probably gonna cost me some money.
I had an LC9 a couple years ago, the only gun I ever traded off. Just could not tolerate the trigger. With all the positive reviews, the LC9s pro with the CT laser is really tempting.

I owned an original LC9 for a while and couldn't wait to sell the gun. A clerk at my LGS convinced me to try the trigger on the LC9s and I ended up leaving with the gun, it's one of my favorite 9s. A couple of friends shot my LC9s and they now each own one, go figure.

If you use a remors holster, "i have several", for either your pocket or iwb, you won't get the gun wet. They are waterproof, and with the sweatgaurd "if you order it that way" you can stick it in your waist and the gun will stay dry forever. I also glued on a clip "before they offered one" to keep the holster where I put it when going from pocket to iwb.

+1 for the Remora holster. Been using one with my Glock 26 for the last couple years and it's great. Should be even better with the slimmer LC9s.

LC9s (non Pro) is on my short list to buy now that I am in the market for a single stack 9mm.

I'd watch mine do the same thing with one mag with the slide off.

Call Ruger they will send a new mag and an envelope to ship the bad on back
Funny, I just thought the other day that I really needed to update this.

We did contact Ruger. They sent a new magazine release and spring. I changed them out, and it was the same issue.

So they sent a new magazine that was made in Italy. When I compared the mag spring strength, the Italian mag spring was noticeably stronger. It resolved the issue completely. The follower slide lock tab doesn't slip off the slide lock any longer, and it ejects properly.

In addition, I added a Hogue grip sleeve to fatten it up a bit, and switched out the magazine base plate for the flush fit one. She now shoots the gun much better, and I believe she could use it effectively and safely to defend herself.

With the pinky extension mag base plate, she was pulling the gun down in anticipation of the recoil. This was causing her to hit extremely low. That issue is now solved, but I need to help her work on her trigger control.

To those who haven't shot one, but have shot or handled an LC9; the trigger on the LC9s is a pleasure to shoot. It is light, crisp, and easy to hit with.

The LC9s is an excellent gun. It is my daily carry. Buy the 9 round magazine. You end up with a full grip of the gun which makes it more comfortable and controllable to shoot.

I bought the LC9s for my daughter as a graduation gift. She picked it out and, though I did some research before I actually made the purchase, I didn't know much about them. After buying it, I have to admit it was hard to let it go out of my hands:)

Frankly, the trigger is about as smooth as any of the guns I own and it is definitely smoother than any of my small CC pistols. I also prefer the 9 round magazine, both for capacity and for grip comfort. We have taken it out a couple of times and ran a few hundred rounds through it with great results and 100% reliability.

It is now at the top of my list to purchase for myself. For $329 to $350 locally, it is a heck of a lot of gun.

I used foofoo can dura cote on the slide of my LCP when I found a bit of surface rust and it turned out beautifully, so good in not only gonna do my LC9s pro but my SR9e that's pretty much just a range queen that has no chance to rust.

I have the non-striker LC9; while I do like the striker-fired model's trigger pull much better, I've gotten used to mine, so I guess I'll keep it. I only carry it when ultimate concealment is needed, usually I carry either my SR40c or a 1911. In any case, the Ruger will be as reliable as anything else you could carry.

Had the original hammer fired version of the LC9. Hated the trigger. Added the Galloway trigger kit. Still hated the trigger. Sold it. Bought the LC9S. Loved it (except for the safety and magazine disconnect). Sold it. Bought the LC9S PRO. I am in heaven.

Anyone use a multi-tool belt pouch as a converted magazine holster? I'm wondering if there's a particular brand/model of pouch that would be a good fit for two standard 7-round LC9s mags? Seeing photos of your setup would be ideal to visualize it. Thanks!

I use a leatherman belt pouch for mid size glock and similar mags. It works well. I think it would be to large for 2 LC9 mags, I will try it when I get home. A belt sheath for a folding knife would probably work.

They fit well in a Leatherman charge pouch. There is a hole in the bottom of leatherman pouches that exposes the bullet.

Thanks, @drunkenpoacher! Those pics really help illustrate the fit. I'm glad you pointed out the holes at the bottom... whether I end up using this particular model or not, now I have a great baseline in terms of form factor to look for.
