Ruger Old Army

I bought one of those back when they first came on the market. Blued. What a nice gun that was. Never had a problem other than the occasional dud caps. Eventually I bought a cartridge cylinder for it and that worked fine if a little slow to load. The cylinder was loaded off the frame and then installed. You cannot go far wrong with one of these. I used to clean mine by placing frame and cylinder in a pot of hot soapy water, simmering, cleaning, wipe dry and oil. Never a problem with rust.

I am sure you will have years of shooting enjoyment with yours.

I expect it to arrive around Monday and will do pics then
I didn't really need the gun just wanted it. and the price was right.
Seriously considering sending it off for the 50 cal upgrade. $1500 but I can afford that too.
Don't like the plastic grips. plastic did not exist back in the day, so will look for nice wood ones.

The ROA is the best of the last. These handguns are of the most modern handgun technology. They are not simply reproductions of the early percussion revolvers.
They can handle very heavy loads of T7 and 260 grs .45 cailber bullets. Ruger incorporated a more positive cylinder boss that allows shooting without the binding in reproductions. My history with the ROA began in 1972. I own a few of the ROA revlovers.;)

Ruger Blackhawk grips will fit the ROA. Our buddy Noz has some nice checkered wooden grips from Altamont that were not expensive. I was lucky to find some Sambar Stag grips that were expensive, before they became outrageously expensive!

The SS ROA at eight o'clock has Sandbar Stag grips. It has the Ballistic F-85 cylinder and a R&D .45 Colt Conversion cylinder. The front sight blade was replaced with a taller blade. This allows the heavy bulleted loads to be zero'ed.:)

yes because coming from Illinois but local ffl only charged $30
I did not know the black hawk grips will fit. That simplifies things , just need a pair I like.
And yes I knew these were built sturdy for heavier charges to begin with, but there is just something about that magical 50 cal that intrigues me.
So if all else goes well seriously thinking next month based on his time schedule and mine.
I'm thinking a 50 cal would definitely ruin some one or somethings day when hit.
