Barrel touching stock on new rifle?

I have rifles / carbines that are not fully floated and they shoot very well. Heart shots on deer and never had one run. Mostly bang----flops. Shoot it first, about 40 or 50 rounds and then see for yourself.

Because they believe that, "barrels shoot best (most accurate) when free floated."

They don't "always".....
would a rifle with a wooden stock which is most of ones with fore end pressure also shoot to zero while hunting in Alaska in a cold rain after carrying the rifle slung for a few hours resting it on a log for a long shot? or would it only shoot to zero at 70 degrees with the sun out bench rested with the front support 10 inches inches in front of the chamber?

If you reload for accuracy which isn't the same as loading for best hunting accuracy , even a26" pencil barrel can be made to shoot with amazing accuracy (1/2" to 3/8" 100 yrd groups). This is not competition groups , but still impressive. The frequency of the barrel whip & point at which the barrel is at when the bullet exits is very important to consistent accuracy. There is still a lot that can go wrong & that's where practice & learning your rifle is nessesary.
