Tried one on my j-frame. It didn't feel secure enough - I was afraid of dropping the gun. Just how I felt. They're inexpensive enough, and easy to install, so I think one would be worth a try.
I can't for the life of me recall the name of it, but back in the late '70s or early '80s a friend had a similar product that was actually a grip that had a sort of a spur or hook.
He swore by it, and it seemed to work pretty well.

Barami Hip Grips, had a pair for a Charter Bulldog years ago. Worked well, recoil from the 44 was a bit brisk though for the smooth plastic. Unfortunately no one makes a grip like that for the Sp101.
