Anybody have a Hornady 10th edition?

Or the 9th edition and want to look something up for me? I have the 7th edition and it does not list Beowulf loads. I think they started listing Beowulf data in the 8th edition and I heard there was updated info in the "new" edition...

I am curious to any updates in the 50 Beowulf load data for the 500gr XTP.

28.1gr Lil'Gun is the only load data I have seen posted and it's what I had written down from last time I looked at the 8th edition Hornady manual. Was wondering if there is any more data, and perhaps a powder that will fling the 500gr XTP faster than Lil'Gun? And of so, what that would be?

No data for a 500 gr. XTP bullet, only 500 gr. FP in the Hornady 10th.
They list Lil'Gun 21.8-1100 fps up to maximum at 28.1 at 1400 fps for the 500 gr. FP bullet #50105. They tested in an Alexander Arms 16" 1/20 twist using Hornady cases and WLP primers. OAL as tested 2.240"
IMR 4227 28.4 at 1100 fps and max at 34.7 at 1400 fps
Win 296 26.0 gr at 1100 and max 32.4 at 1400 fps
H110 started at 26.3 to max at 32.5. H110 and Win 296 the same powder.
 
I see now. 9th Edition says FP-XTP and the 10th just says FP yet both 9th and 10th have the bullet # 50105. Not familiar with the Beowulf just trying to help.

1680 (accurate arms?) Start 34 Max 37.0 (max of 37 listed as possibly most accurate) SV 1249 MV 1389

No pressures listed

Interesting that Lyman lists an OAL of 2.165". Hornady lists 2.24" which is too long for everyone, beyond556.com is now defunct which is a shame because there was good info there but the jist was that 2.24" was flat out too long. I have them shortened to 2.22" and am still having trouble (they wouldn't chamber at 2.24"). They seem to chamber fine now but they do not cycle most of the time. It's not a jam though, it's like the bolt isn't kicking back far enough to pick up the next round so I have to manually cycle. Shooting 28gr Lil'gun. Perhaps I will shorten them a bit again and see if that helps but not sure why it would given the problem. Seems like most people's solution on beyond556.com was to shorten them until they cycle but can't confirm that anymore.
 
I learned this a long time ago, and it's true and it works.

Hornady, Nosler, Lyman, Speer, ALL THOSE GUYS have data that isn't printed in their books.
If they printed all the data they have, the books would be three times as big.
So they list data (they hope) helps most of the handloaders out there,
but they can't please everyone in printed form. Nevertheless they will give you the data freely.

So, give them a call. Ask for the ballistics guys & gals. They'll look it up for you.
If you don't have paper and pencil, most of them will email/fax it to you.

It does but sometimes the data is not listed because accuracy is horrible, there are pressure signs, etc. so be prepared to get negative information from them. Also, consider Loaddata.com and Handloader magazine as well; the folks in Handloader might just do some of the work for you in an article.
