At 0830, the discomfort is mostly when sitting. This local brand as with many, allows the aft end to protrude above the holster.

The carry gun was a .380 Makarov, now the larger CZ Compact and Sig 229.

If you have tried Alien, does it appear to reduce or remove the feeling of the receiver pushing into your hip?
What do you like, or not about Alien?

I've had a couple Alien holsters for a few years. They both look like new because I don't use them.
The kydex doesn't fit the gun allowing it to rattle around and possibly fall out.
Every fastener will get loose and fall out unless you put lock tight on them.
Crossbreed costs twice as much and worth it.

Well you can get a crossbreed seconds from their website (can't remember what that was, most prices 35 or 40usd from what I recall). Me personally I've settled on using all kydex myself, mostly with a speed clip or a vedder light tuck knockoff. But as always holsters are very personal.

Ahh found the site:

I've got an Alien for a full-sized 1911... it's a decent enough holster, but it has to be strapped pretty tight as part of the retention. It is comfortable... but bulky, the neoprene (or whatever) material that's against your skin is kind of thick.

I could see it with a smaller pistol, as long as they downsize the holster assembly a bit.

How about brands which have large, open clips?

Is there any design which cushions your waist --even a different brand--with large clips for a very snug grip onto your pants' waist band, instead of requiring a Wide belt?

My soft, synthetic holster seems nearly ideal, but there is no vertical extension (maybe allows a much quicker draw) to function as a 'hip cushion'.

WhiteHat Maxtuck. Base cowhide holster starts at $60 and can go up depending on fancy options. I personally like the horsehide upgrade. Additional kydex shells are $20 each that can use the same leather backing. Going all baseline options will run you about $120 minus taxes and shipping. Very comfortable and economical option that I have been using for a few years now.

High Noon offers several holsters with large metal clips.

I've got to believe it would be difficult carrying a CZ75 Compact or a SIG P229 without a belt, regardless of the clip.

My pants always Have belts--the two clips on this holster just very tightly grip the pants behind the narrow, leather belts.

With the very tight, long clips on my blue jeans or shorts with loops for a belt, it works very well, but belts must be kept pretty tight in these pants just to prevent downward sagging at 8:30.
Have jogged about six times carrying the CZ or Sig 229 at a very well-known county park. In the past two years, I very freq. carried the .380 (Russ.) Makarov in a Remora IWB, nothing attached to pants or belt., or anything else. Only friction keeps it in place. Very secure, Remora moves fwd. on my hip maybe 1-2" max. (no vertical shift) over 20-30 minutes of non-stop running and being my first holster, did not expect this.

The clips are about 2 1/3" long, spaced approx. 5" apart.
With this worn against a t-shirt, under pants with a tight belt, they are plenty secure enough to run at a good pace. The only issue--as with the Mak. in the iwb Remora--sweat on the exposed barrel and receivers when weather warms again in this humid climate.

herrwalther/JTQ: thanks very much.

My wife is picky about what leather belts to buy me, or see worn if we go out to eat, and adjusting to a totally different, wider version it might need to be leather.
This is the primary, and embarassing reason why clipping tightly onto pants is preferred.

Someone mentioned High Noon... they have an awesome OWB belt holster, I carry my Kahr in one every day. Construction is top notch, I would see no reason why one of their IWB holsters wouldn't be, too.

That Alessi Talon looks just like most any other IWB clipper, I have a Galco that looks very similar in design. The Alessi Watch might be a little closer to what the OP is looking for... I can attest to Alessi quality, I have 2 of their shoulder rigs, too.
