i have been having trouble with my maverick 88, but mossberg has been A+ on helping me fix it. so with their great service i decided to get another maverick 88 today so my wife and i could shoot together. i bought it at walmart still in box as i don't like getting display models, i checked it out on the working slide and everything was smooth, so i bought it. got it home and the front bead is broken off, i did not think to check the barrel as there isn't much to go wrong. i really hate calling mossberg again about this but they should have checked this. how do i get a new one back on?, i don't think i have a wrench that small, does anyone know the size? thanks

I had the same problem with my Maverick 88. You can order the replacement bead from GunParts.com #37860B (Mossberg 500). Use red locktite and a 5/32" socket driver (I used a Craftsman driver for small parts). You might need to file the face of the driver a little to make it fit.

Put masking tape on the rib to keep from ripping through the park. And definitely file the face of the socket down. There's not much to grab on a bead and you sure don't want to risk rounding those tiny shoulders off.
how good are these?, Dead Ringer Uni-Bead Fiber Optic Shotgun Sight DR4386. i have never put on a sight before on a shotgun and have never used these. gonna call mossberg tomorrow but with that little white bead able to come off, even if they send one i am gonna get something for backup. thanks

I think clear nail polish would be fine.
I seldom recommend the magnetic glowpipe sights. Most are taller than the originals and force you to shoot even lower than the already 50/50 pattern style of field guns. (Raise front sight, lower point of impacted). Go for an original replacement.

You're probably better off without a bead anyway.
Try the gun and see. I bet your scores won't change one whit without a bead. They might even go up.

We put these on my wife's trap gun in 2016, and it didn't take long before I did the same on mine: Champion EasyHit 3.0mm Diameter Shotgun Sight. Both of us are crazy about them mostly because our scores went up.
