I recently have got the itch for the 357 Sig. I don't know why besides I thought it would be fun new caliber to add. It would be a full size gun. Reloading is an option or maybe just a few boxes of factory a year. I am not trying to start a caliber war. Just thought it may be a good 25-50 yard plinker.

Too bad this round isn't more popular. Were it so, I'd have at least one .357 Sig pistol.

Mine put a hole through a frying pan at 240 yrds.
I really like the round but I almost never shoot it.

Its speedy, loud, snappy recoil, good flame spurt, good penetration.
But it is expensive and I mostly matches these days.

I would be hard pressed to use it as a plinker.

I have 3, a P229, P320 and Glock 27. I love the round. I reload, so the cost of ammo isn't a consideration for me. The P229 tames the recoil the best of the three and is very managable. It makes for an excellent SD round. Don't forget you have the option of also using a 40 barrel which will help keep your costs down if the cost of 357 ammo is high.

I have a 357 barrel for my G22. It's a fun round to shoot. The muzzle blast is substantial but the recoil isn't much more than hot 9mm rounds.

I was excited enough about the P320 when it came out I went out looking for one in .45acp, but that caliber hadn't been released yet. I don't trust 9mm, don't like .40, so I got my P320 in .357sig. I like the caliber so much I picked up a Legion P229 in .357 as well. Right now those are two of my three primary EDC guns with the Sig Nightmare carry 1911 in .45 being the third.

I don't find the recoil significantly worse than .45, and haven't been surprised by any flash from the barrel.

A Sig 239 in 40 is on my list but only if I get a 357 barrel to go with it. I love the idea of flexibility in calibers in a firearm and the 357 is impressive to boot. Really wish it had a more accepted following. When I mention getting a caliber that isn't 9/40/45 to some local guys they seem to take it personal.

I really like the idea of bottleneck pistol rounds. They just never really catch on and stick very well which is confusing. Yes there’s another few steps to making the brass which adds a bit of ammo cost, but your paying for performance. I’m not opposed to a 357 dog barrel...I have 40 brass, 9mm bullets, and plenty primers and powder. I’m a gun and dies away from the range, I just have never found a 357sig gun that grabbed my attention.

I recently picked up a Sig P229 in 40 S&W with a 357 Sig barrel with it as part of the deal.

The gun is quite accurate with both calibers and the recoil pleasant. Till this I didn't think much of either round...too snappy...but it may have had more to do with the guns I was shooting both the 40 and the 357 Sig out of.

The good news is, IF you reload it's literally a few pennies more to load for than 9mm.
Reloading 357sig you will most probably use jacketed bullets. Using the RMR jacketed bullets, the cost of reloading RMR 124gr FMJFN for me is around $6.60 per 50, and RMR MPRJHP is around $7.70 per 50. You can load plated and cast bullets, but jacketed bullets are better suited due to the higher 357sig velocity.

Ive been thinking about adding a 357 Sig for the last week or so. Probably get a LWD bbl for my Glock 20.

I have a FNX 40s&w and the G20 10mm with a 9x25 Dillon 6" LWD bbl so with the Dillon ive felt like i had that niche covered. I still cant help but want one and ive never had to have a logical reason for a gun purchase so why start now?

I have two SIG P229s with .40 S&W and 357 SIG barrels. I enjoy shooting 357 SIG and would probably do so more often if it were not for ammunition expense. The ammo expense would not be an issue if you reload, and good deals for 357 SIG ammo do come up on the internet with fair regularity. If I had to rely on locally purchased 357 SIG ammo, it would be pretty grim. Selection would be extremely limited and prices quite high.

The SIG P229 shoots either .40 S&W and 357 SIG extremely well. I have heard many say they feel the recoil of 357 SIG is less than .40 S&W. I am not sure I agree. I would say they are similar, but different. Maybe a bit more muzzle rise with .40 S&W but it seems to me 357 SIG has a sharper push back into the hand. But with the P229 either is pleasant to shoot, so arguing which has more manageable recoil is really splitting hairs IMO. The 357 SIG cartridge is definitely louder, which you will probably notice when shooting indoors. And in dim light it definitely has more muzzle flash.

Since it is a high velocity cartridge, 357 SIG does shoot quite a bit flatter than .40 S&W, 9 mm Luger, or .45 ACP, which might be advantageous for shooting out past 25 yards.

I think if I ever get a modular conversion kit for my 9mm 320 it will be in .357 SIG.

I have had a P229 with 40 and 357 bbls for years. I had trouble reloading 357 until I went to 147g boattail bullets so I don't need to flare the case. Now I lightly crimp and have no more issue with bullet setback. I don't shoot it often, but it's there when the spirit moves me.

I count the "pennies" delta as being the powder, 9mm I'm usually using HP38, I'm now using H LongShot for 357S, just a few more grains per load. Bullets are about moot as I'm also running plated in 357S

I Just bought a LNIB Glock 32 chambered in .357SIG last week. I wanted to keep it, but setting up for yet another cartridge to reload, as well as knowing that every time I took it to the range, one of my other 'favorites' would have to stay home, convinced me to sell it on GunBroker.

I thought I might make some money - it was quite a handsome pistol - but I only got my minimum Bid of $400. I paid $365 for the Glock 32 plus $11.50 to GB, so I made less than 6.5%, or $23.50 on the sale! I think I should have just kept it ...

I, too, enjoy the 357.
Infatuation started with a SP2022 357.
Then bumped into an M&P Compact - wow.
They keep happening. Sold the 2022 for a FS P250 bedside blaster.
And now, my Glock 35 has a KKM 357 barrel.

I have two right now, a Sig 229 and a Glock 32. Will have a third as soon as Sig gets 357 Sig barrels in stock for one of me P 226's. Great round, but does draw a little more attention on the firing line than a 9mm, 40 or 45.

I really liked the one I had (Glock 32), its a really good caliber. Flat shooting as hell for a pistol.

Just got sick of spending a bit more for ammo and having to order that ammo off the net. Only a couple places locally carry it and they were asking for a few bucks a box over what I pay for .45 Acp.

As a caliber I liked it though. I still kick around the idea of getting another one in a Sig 226. I see used PD .357 Sigs at GT Distributors for $330 every time I go on.

Like someone else said I really like bottle necked rds, but they never seem to catch on.
