I wanted a corncob forearm but apparently they’re quite rare so I used what I had.

I sanded out the old stain and rubbed in 3 coats of Formby Tung Oil satin finish using 000 steel wool between coats.

I got the look I was going for, except for the holographic sight but overall I like it. Some before & after pics....

Love it!
The 590 is on my short list. If I don't have to the siren song of the Shockwave, I'd love to get a 590 with a wood furniture set up like that.

I need to semi retire my old Ithaca 37 since it's special to me. I'm thinking the 590 would be a good fit for my left handedness.

Nice work! Looks mighty fine, especially with the wood furniture! The heat shield and bayonet mount (along with the bayonet, of course), are great additions!

Very nice setup, I really like the look of wood furniture on defensive shotguns. I had a similar idea with my Mossberg:

I might need to find a bayonet mount like yours, just for fun.

Noir,

Yours has the look I was going for but Numrich was out of corncob fore ends. I like the way my wood cleaned up so blonde though. Any idea what species lumber Mossberg used for their stocks?

NIce set-up on your Mossberg as well! Got me thinking I should go with wood furniture now!

How much weight did the wood add to the guns? It occurs to me that such might aid in felt recoil reduction.

Both these guns look nicer than basic black.

Thanks for sharing.

kBob,

Weight difference seems negligible. The synthetic stock, once it was removed, was heavier than I thought it would be. And thanks.
