I've got a shotgun that I'd like to replace the stock on. It's a Savage 775a, so there's no commercially available stock replacements for it. This leave me with making my own.

I don't really want a wood stock for this project, but I can't seem to find block of synthetic stock material. Anyone know where to find this sort of thing?

It doesn't come in blocks.

They are made either by injection molding melted plastic pellets into a steel mold.

Or, hand layed up in a female mold half using fiberglas or carbon fiber & epoxy resin, then filled with foam to deaden sound.

LC, head to Ebay or gunbroker and pick yourself up one of those multi-use ATI pistol grip kits. They can be had in the $12-15 range most days so shop around. Those grips come with adapters that fit Remingtons/Mossy's/Winchesters etc. With that kit, all you have to do is modify one of those adapters....or create your own if need be....and then the pistol grip will fit your gun. Those adapters are also identical to the ones in the ATI stock kits....so once you get the pistol grip to fit, buy the ATI stock and it'll fit, too. That allows you to only have to work on a small plastic adapter, carve it, melt it etc, to get the synthetic stock to fit like it was a factory part.

Thanks for the info. That'll work much better then going out to my father in laws to use his band saw for a weekend.
