New Holster for a Blackhawk..........

Yeah, seeing those zucchini make me realize I need to plant some “target seed” myself! Getting warm enough to plant now. Good idea. Probably one of the best uses for squash/zucchini I can think of - a biodegradable target.

Had this holster since 1968. It was for my 1967 Ruger Blackhawk 357. Now I mostly use it for my New Vaquero 45 Colt. I have the original belt but it doesn't fit now. The 45 belt here is still 1970s vintage I was told. Oh It's a Lawrence rig.

I got to eat crow here guys. I looked at that belt and its a Triple K and Not Lawrence.

I have to agree with Bob that simple is best. I do sometimes to something like this simple border stamping, and very rarely anything more.

The fanciest I have is this. It's pretty much as close as I'll ever get to a BBQ gun. But to honor the Marine who left it to me I feel it deserves something a cut above.

Like the rig! Always liked George Lawrence Co. holsters, especially the #120. Nice, straightforward designs made from quality leather.

Nice pancake style holster for your Colt 1911 WW1 Belleau Wood Commemorative.

I like that holster for the Ruger Blackhawk (but would like it better if the pouch were deeper and the strap omitted.) I also like the ammo pouch. I cannot understand why people in this day and age use belt loops.

I agree with you about the ammo pouch. One place to go to for your cartridges and they're well protected from the elements. I think the popularity of belt loops is that it has that traditional, "Western" look to it. Maybe it brings out the cowboy/gunslinger in some folks!

I still like the dedicated gunbelt.
Strap it on over whatever you're wearing.
The ammo pouch id great too. Any caliber ammo will fit, unlike the loops.

I had a problem with mine coming open. Cartridge fit is loose enough that cartridges will fall out. Went back to belt slide with loops.

You notice I'm carrying a Single Action? A speed strip is useless.

Bob Wright

I know I don't have nearly as much experience with single action as you do, Bob, but I've found a speed strip can be made to work with my SBH. I hold the speed strip in my loading hand and break rounds from it with my thumb and index finger to load them into each chamber. It's a little fiddly, but easier than holding six loose rounds in the hand, and faster (for me) than moving back and forth to my belt for each round. But I'm a lefty, and loading with my left hand, so that might have some effect on my general abilities at the task.

You may have already tried this of course. Just thought I'd mention it.
