M&P 22 Compact

I have one and I love it. Basically traded a Ruger 22/45 for it and don't regret the switch.

The trigger isn't fantastic, nor was the Ruger's for that matter, but it has been perfectly reliable so far with bulk standard velocity ammo.

I mainly bought it to mount a suppressor, which it does well (Ruger was an older MK2 without threads).

Finding a holster is a bit difficult since it's the same shape, but smaller than regular M&Ps.

Was there something specific you wanted to know?

I handled on eat the LGS the other day and liked the feel, but no one around here has one that I know of. Thought about possibly picking it up, but was looking for positive or negative opinions before I made up my mind.

I've got both the full sized and compact. I prefer the compact, actually made by S&W, as opposed to the full sized imported by Umarex.

If you're interested in adding a suppressor, the adapter for the compact is different than that for the full sized model. Once obtained and installed it works well. Nice gun.

I shot my Dad's, his training gun/range plinker companion to his .45 and 9 M&P Compacts. It shot accurately and felt good, functioned well with Federal Auto-Match.

I do not own one but I have friends who do,,,
I shoot theirs quite often.

The only thing I don't like about the gun is this,,,
It's a single-action with internal hammer.

That means that once you chamber a round the pistol is cocked,,,
There is no means at all to lower the hammer,,,
You must rely entirely on the safety.

I think that's just fine in target pistols like the Ruger MK series, S&W Victory, Beretta NEOS, etc,,,
But for a pistol that's supposed to look and feel like a duty weapon,,,
I want at least an external hammer,,,
A de-cocker would be great too.

Other than that one thing it's a sweet shooting little handgun,,,
Because of the above reasons I purchased a Ruger SR-22 instead,,,
However the S&W performs equally as well and is just as accurate as my Ruger.

I'm not trying to change your mind,,,
But I did want to point out to you,,,
The one feature that I don't like.

I own the M&P 22 Compact and really like it. I have larger hands yet still get a full grip on it. It has been very reliable with various popular .22 rounds including CCI Mini Mags, Federal 525 bulk, Federal American Eagle, and Remington Golden. My son tried it liked it so much he "borrowed" it for a while to have his girl friend try it too. People seem to like that it looks like a modern combat pistol. There are holsters available for it too.

Below is a great review on it. The slide is made of aluminum.
