Last month I stopped in at the local Pawn & Gun shop to see when they would be getting in their next shipment of Glock 19X’s. I had my name on the list for the next one that came in. My friend at the shop told me that he had just bought several guns from a guy and one was a Glock 19X. He said He could make me a good deal when it came out for sale. He also said that the guy that had it only fired one mag through it.
Well, today my friend contacted me and said that I could have the 19X for $499. I stopped in at the shop on the way home to look at the gun. It looked brand new so, I bought it.

I would like to hear what you think about it after you fire it, in comparison to other Glock 19's. I have never fired the 19X myself. $500 is definitely a good price for one. We used the Gen 3 G 19 at my last unit, and the Gen 3 17 at my last job overseas. IMO, the 19X is backwards- instead of lengthening the frame on a 19, I think they would have been better off SHORTENING the frame on a 17, which I did on one of mine. It will take standard 19 mags, and + plates can be added.

Is that "Blue Label" pricing as an LEO?

Seems like I see "regular" pricing about $600.

At the same time, I am a bit confused as to what this pistol is good for. It would appear to me that putting a 17 slide on a 19 frame would result in a more practical, more concealable, weapon, just like the Officer frame/Commander slide (CCO) for the 1911.

The 19X was Glock's entry in the Army's MHS competition. The requirements document specified a compact slide on a full size frame. That's why the commercial variants of those entries (Sig, Glock, FN), are compact uppers on full size lowers.

I understand that, but I am still trying to wrap my head around while they would dictate that configuration.

Big Army's use of decision making by committee to determine requirements......trying to get a one size fits all for grunts, officers, CID, Air crewman, Track crewman, and GOs

5 different back straps? Seems to mean it would cover just about any hand size; a good thing.

As I stated I’m my post, it’s a used gun. The previous owner didn’t shoot it much. It looks unfired. I got lucky again.
I really don’t understand the issues that people have with this gun, other then Glock didn’t make the gun that they wanted, or think they wanted. It’s a duty gun so the objective was not to build a gun for conceal carry. But let’s look at the size differences.
The barrel and slide :
The length difference is less then an inch. The negative, shorter sight radius. Positive, can clear a holster faster when drawing. I can live with that. 5EDBD980-8E58-4D9B-8BE6-85EC2FAEAE1E.jpeg

The grip:
The length difference is less then an inch. Negative: not as concealable as a 19 frame. Positive: it can hold more ammo. I can live with that.

Maybe if enough people ask Glock to build a gun with a 17 slide and a 19 frame, they might build it.

I have carried three Glocks in the past 15 year as duty weapons, the 22, 17 and the 19. By far the 19 was the most comfortable one to carry.
I own several guns as most of y’all know and of those guns a few are Glocks. I have the 22 Gen3, 17 Gen4, 19 Gen3, 19 RTF, and a 43. Now I have a 19X. The 19X will not be used as a duty gun, but more of a truck gun and range toy. I do plan to qualify with it as an off duty gun.
I was thinking about buying a 19 Gen5, but I really didn’t care for the mag well and the fact that earlier mags wouldn’t work in it. Now this this did not upset me, I just decided not to buy one, but I had no problems with anyone else buying one.
The Glock 19X is just like any other gun in a way, it’s not for everyone and it will not fit the needs of everyone. Just like the guy that sold this gun back to the Pawn Shop.
My son Austin is already trying to talk me out of it.

Funny thing is, as not-a-Glock-guy, for some reason, I want a 19X. Once upon a time, I was issued the 23 (Gen 2), hated it ... Maybe it's just the color. I'll pick one up and get back to you guys.

Our LGS had one19X in stock. A female walked in and bought it on the spot. Evidently the full size M&P 9mm 5" ver 2.0 is available in FDE only. A female purchased that one as well. She referred to FDE as "mud". Nice pistols, beauty in the eye of the beholder…

I heard that the ones sold on the LEO program will be around $550. My friend that works at a police supply store told my that they still don’t know when they will get the ones for the LEO program. He also told me that every 19X that comes in is sold within a day or two.
I took the day off today, but will shoot the 19X tomorrow at work.

If it's meant to be a duty sized gun it should have a duty sized barrel to go with that grip. I'd take the extra accuracy over being able to clear a holster a millisecond faster.
I have both a 17 and a 26, and have never, personally, seen a need for a 19. However, I have learned to "never say never".

Funny thing, as much as I like the G17, I always seem to shoot the G19 a little better. It just fits my hands a little better and points a little straighter. The 17 feels better. The 19 shoots better. Just me I guess.

She referred to FDE as "mud".

Certainly not the worst thing it has been called.

Anyway, nice gun Gunny.

I'm glad you like it, but a standard G19 with G17, mags does exactly the same thing and leaves the option for an even more compact gun with the shorter G19 mags in it. To me it would have made more sense to have the full length G17 slide and barrel with the shorter G19 grip which could always use with 17 or even 33 round magazines. It is the longer grip, not slide and barrel that is harder to carry.

But it is what it is and different people like different things. I'm sure it will work as well as any other Glock.

I was the other way. After buying a G19 I saw no need for my G17 and sold it. It was a lot bigger through the grip and I didn't shoot it any better than the G19. Since I could carry the G19 with either G19 mags for CC, and have G17 mags for spares or open carry the G17 became expendable.

I really wanted to like the G26 and G43, but I didn't shoot either very well. Maybe it was just the individual guns. I ended up trying a Ruger LC9s and shot it so well I sold the G43. I decided the G26 wasn't enough smaller than the G19 to keep both so I let it go too.

Love mine. Replaced my 17 as EDC.

19 grips are too small for me and the grooves for the gen 3/4 are in the wrong place for my hands (17 and 26 fit right).

Since I already ccw a 17, the grip carries fine and the shorter barrel is far more comfortable IWB.

Perfect setup for me. If I need something smaller, I have my 26.

For reference, the 19x is nearly the same size as a Sig P229, and very close to a PPQ, VP9, and variants of XD and the SIG P320.

Many of those are considered excellent carry guns for many folks.

I don’t recall seeing any gun with a short grip and long barrel and slide, other then a few compacts. But if Glock would have built the 19X with a 17 slide and 19 grip, you would most likely hear more people complaining.
But what is a military handgun used for? For sure not conceal carry. It’s for close quarter combat. So keep that in mind when it comes to the 19X.
I have seen topics on guns I don’t care for, but have never felt compelled to post in those topics about how I felt, or how the should have made the gun the way I would have wanted it. It’s kind of like trucks.
Now the thing is, I’m not a Glock fan boy. I believe that there are guns suited for different purposes.
I really like my Barrett APX and FNS9. I plan to take them to the rang to see how they compare to each other.

19x Blue Labels are going for $530.00 + tax at my local police supply house. My number came up on the list, but I passed. It just doesn't balance or feel good to me.....YMMV

Still liking mine, no problems to speak of. Although I’ve recently went back to carrying my usp 45c. I’ve been carrying either a 30S or 19X for a while now so I wanted to change it up a little. Today I was fondling a m&p 9 compact m2.0 and was real close to pulling the trigger on that purchase but convinced myself the last thing I needed was another compact 9mm handgun. Now I just gotta stay away from gun stores for a while because that m2.0 felt really nice in my hands. I see why that gun is getting so much praise. Now if smith will just make a 45 compact m2.0 I would be extremely happy. My 19X has been relegated to nightstand duty only for now.

Gunny, I take it that you are not familiar with the CCO. 1911 Officer ACP frame with a Commander slide. The hardest thing to conceal is the grip, and inch or so of barrel is hidden in the pants IWB.

I remember seeing them before, but I was talking about high capacity production guns. I find that there are two groups that are upset about the 19X. Group one are the Glock Haters. Group two are the ones that wanted a different gun.
I see no advantage to a long slide on a short frame, but that’s me. If Glock had build a gun wit a 17 slide and 19 frame, it would not have interest me. But also it would not have upset me. But I do believe that if there is enough interest in a gun set up that way, Glock might build it one day.
