I'm looking for some recommendations for full size 1911 CCW; both inside the pants and outside the pants, straight drop, right side carry. Only want recommendations from actual users; what is the most comfortable for standing / walking obvioisly, and especially for sitting. Not interested in what the advertisement says, what are your PERSONAL experiences. Thanks in advance.

Are you asking about holsters or guns. All full size 1911's will have about the same footprint other than small differences in the sights.

It sounds like he wants a holster recommendation. Right-side, straight-drop, OWB is any of the Thad Rybka Rhodesian or Speed-scabbard style, or the Milt Sparks #1 professional style. Milt Sparks, Davis, Rafter (if you can get an order to him), et al, all work. Go to the 1911Forum and look at pics of all the 100s of holsters people posted.

With a straight drop holster, I generally carry at 3:00, and this gives me some hip pain after a period of time. Farther back, with a canted holster, sitting on a meaty part of my body, I get more comfort.

Kevin, you are right. I wasn't really clear; yes, i want holsters, bjut only personal, comfort recommendations, no a cataloge to look at.

Look at the Ritchie Vertical Speed Scabbard (VSS) for OWB, It's my favorite leather holster and I own several for various platforms. The Ritchie brothers worked with Lou Alessi and use his original patterns. For IWB I prefer kydex and use holsters from Dark Star Gear and ChuckD's Custom Kydex.

I used a DeSantis Speed Scabbard to EDC a 1911 for about 3 years. Good holster. Good enough that when I wanted an OWB leather for my Shield years later, I didn't really do much shopping around. I just bought another Speed Scabbard.

The problem is that few people spend the money to try different holsters, instead picking and using one, so what you will see here is their recommendation based on one or two of picks.

I owned 85-holsters in many styles and makers. I stick w/ OWB leather in a straight-drop and dress to conceal. I don't worry about printing or others as 99 out of 100 people are too wrapped-up in their sad excuse for lives sustained by their phones to ever notice me or anything else going on around them.

So, if you are looking for my personal, comfort recommendations, I keep coming back to the Thad Rybka Rhodesian style, straight-drop; or his Speed-Scabbard, both of which are available from different makers.

Here are a few of what I use. I am downsizing, so am selling off most of what I own.

Like Spats McGee I have found DeSantis holsters to be very well made and comfortable to wear, though just as a matter of personal preference I like their Mini Slide holster. I also have used the Bianchi Askins Avenger for many years with great success.

I carry my full size double stack 1911 in a galco jackass and it's very comfortable
