Colorado forest fires.

We were up shooting this past monday southwest of denver back on national forest land. Several cars there and everything was good to go as usual. That particular area has been burned out multiple times in the past 20 years so there isn't a whole lot left to burn.

Pine beetles are the root cause of these fires.

Yes we take fires seriously. Especially if you ever had to evacuate your home and prayed it was there when you got back. Dodo sorry you can't shoot. We get nervous when we smell smoke.

Certainly true, my sisters house burnt a couple of days ago in the Klamathon Fire. I sold the house to her about ten years ago.

The gorse heath behind the Bisley Camp ranges in England has a tendency to catch fire in weather like this. I've seen it start from nothing, while pistol shooting was taking place (from the Pirbright army camp next door) and the fire trucks have to go out and damp it down. Buried munitions from WW2, never properly cleared, make it dangerous to stay out there too long. Sometimes the fires threaten the ranges and evacuation warnings are issued

OP in these times I really urge you to consider a quality air gun or air pistol. You might be really pleased how fun they can be, and they won't start and fires.

Aren't some air gun pellets made of steel? If so, they might spark enough on rock to start a fire.
This article starts out about fireworks being banned; however, a few paragraphs down there is info about people shooting near an active fire, and shot being fired at fire fighters fighting the fire. Just another example of some of the idiots who go out to shoot regardless of the weather or the surrounding area.

Here is La Veta pass this morning. It was opened up. Notice the house in the background appears to have made it. Its pretty bad damage to the mountains. Thanks again to the firefighters. 20180708_081109.jpg

I've hunted prairie dogs in western Kansas when it was so dry I was afraid to shoot or even drive thru the pasture. Sure ended the hunt for me. Not much in the world I can do about a drought, but I can avoid making to worse.

Well I am on vacation in Colorado. I brought plenty of ammo and cannot shoot any. Several fires around me and an outright ban on any type of fires including shooting in my area. I am on private property and the local ranch manager says no firearms due to possible spark caused by ricochet. I didn't argue as I dont want to be that guy who starts a fire. I am just wondering for argument sake what are they possiblity of starting a fire with SMOKELESS POWDER gunfire. I am content saving my ammo for a later time. Cheers. And early happy 4th!

Just wanted to add thank you to the firefighters and those who support them. What an amazing service. I am grateful.
Here in Rapid City SD we have seen a lot of Smoke. Lets hope they get things under control!!
