hi, anyone know any online sites that are offering hazmat fee specials at this time?
my local gun shop(only have one) does not have powder im looking for.
and said not anytime soon.

midsouth shooters just had one about 2 mths ago but missed out on that one.

i did do a search of the bigger online sites but none to be found.

if you have any leads i would appreciate the help. thanks!

Midsouth has one now but its for Alliant powder and you need to buy 8 lbs.
If there are no specials Powder Valley tends to be the best price, not always but worth checking.

did powder valley...not so good. graf & sons has $10 hazmat but u need to buy 4lbs. just one 1lb of win 244 i need.
hate to buy 4 if i dont like it.

Yea, online deals usually benefit the larger orders. Deals on small quantity are difficult. Only way I could do it was bundle it with four or eight pounds of my favorites.

Any reloading aquaintances that may like to trade a small sample of powder? A pound is still a lot of Fourty five Auto (or whatever) if it isn't quite right. And not nearly enough when it is!:)

If you just must try this powder, consider the time and fuel necessary to hunt it down, compared to the ease of point, click, delivered to your door. It may be the best powder ever, ten dollars to find that out isn't too bad, right? I just tipped the pizza guy five bucks, he didn't come from Iowa.

Oh, and tell us how you like he powder, when you find some.

I've found that buying 4 pounds is financially trying at times, however, a few months later I am almost out of Tactical Rifle powder. I shoulda' bought more when the deal was available. Now I hafta' grow a new joint in my leg so I can kick myself in the butt.

Seems this same conversation is going on somewhere else here on this forum as to buying local or ordering online.

I am of the mindset that when buying 1k primers or 1# of powder it's best to source it locally, even if it is a few dollars more. The difficulties come when it cannot be found locally.

Reloading components in most areas of the country have never been sufficiently supplied by local shops, so there’s really not any significant sustenance to be provided - or denied to - a local vendor, as opposed to buying online.

HUH? I have no clue what you are trying to say.

Where in Pa are you? I was just at Cabelas in Hamburg today and they had W244 and W572 along with all the other Winchester powders, all of them.

Side note: they also have the IMR Enduron powders in stock too but very little in the way of Alliante or Accurate powders.

It means it will have to ordered it in. If the LGS can't get it, it's because he's not in the loop or doesn't want to be. Powder and primers are plentiful at this time.

If you’re really set on only wanting to get locally instead of buying 4lbs, you could always take a trip to Pittsburgh. It is around locally. Bring the Mrs. out and have an evening on the town - then subtly drop that you need to swing by a place and pick up some components!

(^If you’re actually interested in doing this, let me know. I can call a few places and find it for you / pick you up a pounder and meet you.)

Although - being honest - you may be better off ordering 4lbs and giving it a go. Don’t like it? Resell locally. After all, you’d likely be one of the very few to have it!

Did you ask the LGS that you go to if they would order the powder you want with their next powder and primer order?

this is not that big a deal LOL! i`m satisfied with order i placed. wouldnt do that all the time.
its just my LGS is not like others in bigger towns. if you can imagine Jed Clampett & a couple of his pals
reloading there rifles...and there LGS only catered to them, this is what i deal with here. nothing but hunters
& hillbillies.

Buying powder & primers is my big reason for going to gun shows. Rarely do I buy any guns (love to window shop though). But here in Texas, the really big gun shows charge a $8 to $10 entry fee plus parking. If you consider gas cost too, you're close to busting the hazmat fee bubble.

I've gotten to know a couple of small time vendors that go to the local/rural gun shows. I can call them up to see if they are going to show up & if they have the powder I'm after. Works for me...

same here. i have got great deals on prim&powder at gun shows. but then again if your looking for
a certain powder, say a new one that just came out like me its kinda the luck of the draw if they have it
or have any left.

Did you ask the LGS that you go to if they would order the powder you want with their next powder and primer order?
yes, the guy tells me this "nope...dont plan on getting any soon". just like he didnt care or unless enough people ask for it he`s not ordering any.

1. The smaller your order, the hazmat fee figures in more prominently.
2. My experience is that the on line sellers will run the Hazmat deal on 24 hours notice max.

I would suggest you check every day for vendors on line offering the same and catch the best deal you can get.

How do you like the Shooters World powders? I have Match Rifle and Tactical Rifle but have not shot either as of yet.

Eric

Shooters World (Lovex) Tactical Rifle and Ramshot TAC are excellent powders. I have ordered 4 lbs. of each under hazmat free sales and find myself almost out of both. (down to about 1 lb. each). I am watching Midsouth constantly for similar sales and will buy more.
The new joint in my leg is almost fully grown so I can kick myself in the butt for not buying more at the last sale.
I bought 16 pounds of surplus 50 bmg powder some years ago and that has lasted me quite a while. GLAD I am that I splurged back then as surplus powder is harder to come by now.
