It's never been more of a buyer's market for any kind of gun that I've seen, save milsurps in the 70s and 80s.

That's about to change with the upcoming elections, in all likelihood, to say nothing of what would happen if it's compounded with another mass public shooting. The vast majority of Democrat politicians are proudly boasting of their support to ram through an "assault weapons ban", and Nov. 2018 is looking pretty favorable for that constituency of the fedgov.

The time has never been better - just sayin......

I hope to see some cheap lowers at a gun show next month. If it is like last year then there should be some.

Part of me says get one asap. The other part says it'll spend the rest of its life in the safe after one or two mags.

Still kicking myself for not striking while the iron was hot on an AK or an SKS though. Maybe I'll convince myself to pick up that Sport 2.

It’s never a bad idea to plan for a rainy day.

Besides, a new 45.00 Aero lower today will probably never drop below a resale value of .45.00 in several years should a ban be in place..or not. No way to lose $$$ (unlike the top dollar buys from the post Sandy Hook Obamascare that are now worth half to a third of their cost!)

Buy low, and stay safe!

While I tend to agree with most guys posting here, if you’d have told me a few years back that low end AR’s would sell for $2k and .22’s for $100 for a bulk box, I’d have called you nine kinds of crazy.

At 67 YO, I remember gas at 18 cents a gallon, home mortgages for less than $100 a month. Never say never. Cheap milsurps were gonna last forever

"There's no reason for prices to spike based on a house flip. Now if they tried to pass laws that the prez would sign, different story"

But keep in mind that what actually affects supply and demand (and thus prices) is not what people *should* believe; but rather what they do believe - i.e. perception of Joe and Jane Sixpack is everything, not some detailed political analysis. I guarantee you that if on election night, the headlines are "blue wave", prices will go up dramatically.

Besides, the Democrats may actually win the senate too, and our president has shown time and again his anti-civil-rights tendencies, such as his remarks after the Florida shooting.

No reason to go crazy. If you dont have an AR, get yourself a $40 lower and the Palmetto kit that strikes your fancy. A 10 pack of pmags and a case of ammo and you are ready to learn to shoot it!!!

If you shoot a lot of volume, now is a good time to stash a few spare barrels and bolts in the back of the safe.

Everyone seems to think that lowers are everything - not so - they could easily ban (and likely will eventually) the manufacture and sell of uppers as well, which will of course drive their prices up. Just trying to help with a gentle reminder. I have no dog in the fight. I'm not selling anything.

You came out ahead IMHO. AKs are not my favorite platform. ;)

Bolt carrier groups were completely unavailable for a while during the last panic.

Solely due to a bottleneck in supply.

"if you haven't bought what you wanted/needed by now, shame on you"

Why would you shame people for being smart enough to wait until the prices are at the lowest possible point, like they are now? Are we also shaming new shooters who are just thinking about getting an MSR, or converts from other disciplines (reformed FUDDs)? The appropriate response is "excellent advice", as prices will in fact go up (though probably only a little).

Why do you want to stir up worry and fear like Chicken Little?

The it's a good time to buy advise has been out there fro a long time now, and that's different that spreading fear something might happen politically that will make prices go nuts again.
