Hi everyone; flexible here. Just bought a Browning Citori #725 and it has that Browning decal on the barrel - does anyone know how to 'gently' remove it?
thanks

Test any chemical you use on a hidden spot before touching visible areas.

I have had good luck by heating stickers gently (hair dryer) and peeling. Any remaining glue can usually be removed by pressing the peeled-of sticker on the glue repeatedly and removed.

If it is real gun bluing acetone will remove the adhesive. Can't imagine Browning using "paint" on there shotguns. Just remember to reoil the surface as acetone is widely used as a solvent and degreaser in industry. It WILL remove all oils and leave the surface bare and dry.

Warm it up with a hair dryer and scrape it off with an old credit card or any hard plastic, Hoppes #9 removes goo as well as the afore mentioned solvents.

WD-40 will do it and is better than goo-gone. Afterward, clean off with alcohol and oil the bluing with gun oil.

Mineral Spirits.
Might be slower than stronger solvents, but safe to use on automotive finishes as well.

still working on it; soaked with WD 40 and got off the plastic 'top coat'. am trying Birchwood Casey 'Scrubber' now. started trying to scrape with a edged, plastic tool. Looks like a slow process.
thanks I'll let you all know when I get it off

Just in from the garage, the Birchwood & Casey finished it off; the decal came off and the barrel finish is fine!
thanks everyone

Don't know why manufacturers do that. I bought a new Marlin 39 many years ago. There was a sticker on the forearm that said "Genuine Walnut!"
When I peeled the sticker, the finish came off with it.
