Does anyone have data or can you tell me where to find it for : 296 under a 310gr. cast bullet, sized to .430 and gaschecked( 44 mag. ) I have Alliant data but want to try them a little faster. Thanx, Larry

H110 is the same powder as 296, I hope that little tidbit might find some info.

I used to use a copious quantity of H110 under a 300 grain Meister cast bulet in a S&W Mountain Gun I had but I can't find the notes. As I recall it was a compressed charge, and I know for sure I wrecked the gun with it. Shot it loose in a hurry, less than 3500 rounds and it rattled like a GI 1911. The front sight pins used to break regularly too, it would fly off into wherever things go that you never find again....

300's in a 44 have always shot well for me too.

With Dry Creeks 310gr Keith 21.5gr of H110 (twin to 296) at 1.749" OAL does 1,275 fps from a 6" S&W. A 300gr LTC at a shorter 1.639" OAL and the same powder charge did right about 1,400 fps from a 6.5" M44 Taurus, that one seems a bit on the warm side and I didn't fire very many of them.

I'd start at 19.0gr and see how fast they shoot in your gun with that particular bullet and work up if you want more velocity and/or accuracy.

Thanks for the input guy,s. 296 looks real promising for my bullet. 19 and 19.5gr. test loads were fair 20gr. is feeling good. Waiting for a chrono now. Larry
