Rifling life, but probably not barrel life on a bolt gun. Just because of how the chamber is cut for headspace on most bolt rifles. It would be possible, but sometimes the plating is more trouble than its worth.
Well, my twelve gauge Winchester SXP shotgun is a chrome-lined barrel hunting firearm, but it is definitely not a rifle if it was what you were asking about. At the rate at which I am shooting it, it will last as long as the Sun. I might have to become a member at the skeet club someday to remedy that uncomfortable situation: my hunting alone will never begging to wear it; even then, it might very well outlast me.
I don't know of a chrome-lined classic hunting rifle barrel; it doesn't mean there aren't any out there. I think I read some AR barrels are chrome-lined (don't know that much about ARs) and I know many hunt with ARs, so I guess there are some chrome-lined rifle barrels used for hunting, although they might be a rarity in .270 Winchester.
