Prior to Y2K I convinced myself I needed a rifle, only had $100. for gun and ammo. LGS was selling Enfields for $68.00 so I got one and as much ammo as I could get for the balance of the $100.
Dang! you just reminded me of a Beretta A300 I won in a raffle held by a small town bar in SD. (Didn't have a single stop light in town but did have 2 bars!) I had noticed the sign about the raffle and asked what it was for and how much. For playground equipment for the elementary school and $20. I said I would donate $20. I got a call a few months later that I had won it! So I guess $20 is the least I have paid for gun.Cheapest, not given to me, was probably my first Krag 30-40. All original except for the scope mount and Lyman All-American. Paid just under $125 out the door. Another that sticks in my mind is one I won on a raffle - $400 for a Daniel Defense DDM4v7 NRA Gun of the Year.
Actually this wouldn't be my cheapest gun if you were to figure all the money I've spent on gun raffle tickets over the last 40 plus years and this is the only thing I have to show for it,
