I figured that... That's typically the answer I get, and, IMHO, an important detail that's usually omitted. The issue either happened years ago or with a model that is no longer being made.
Funny that the sentiment is almost never the same when it's another manufacturer. When it comes to other manufacturers, people don't swear off an entire brand or model for life because they got a lemon on a masses produced gun over several years to decades ago. Seems like a phenomenon that affects Taurus the most if not exclusively. "Brought one Taurus, had a problem 30 years, will never buy another Taurus revolver, semiauto, or any of their firearms again... I'll bash them or, at the very least, will bring up the fact that I got a bad gun from them every chance I get as if it was a recent occurrence."
I've been around firearm forums and social media for several years now, and I've heard about worse things happening from Sig, S&W, Ruger, etc, and people don't typically hold the same type of grudges or react in the same manner...
Taurus sells a lot of guns, and does not suffer from the same problems they have had in the past. They are one of the top firearm importers to the U.S. on top of what they manufacture in their U.S. plant. With that said, I'm not hearing about all the current problems Taurus owners are having with their firearms like was the case several years ago. I'm not seeing all the forum and social media post; I'm not hearing much of anything other than old issues and bashing by those who say they'll never buy one... What I have been hearing A LOT about is RECENT major safety issues, design flaws, and/or quality control issues from S&W, Sig, Springfield, Walther, etc...
Yes they do, but I sent them a gun fully assembled and they sent it back taken apart! I also won’t own a Glock after I had a G32 hand grenade on me. I don’t care how popular they are. They (Glock) knew they had a problem with the chambers metallurgy. But they put them out anyway.
I’m not telling anyone else what to do, just sharing my experience. My apologies if this upsets you.. maybe they have gotten better, I certainly hope they have. YMMV.
