Does anyone know a good low recoil recipe for a .270? Other than Trail Boss.

20 grains of SR4759 under a 130 grain pill is what my Speer manual lists. Haven't tried it though.
The reduced loads using SR4759 listed in the Speer Manual for my wife's 7mm Rem Mag work real well. About 25 grs of SR4759 behind a 130 gr bullet is surprisingly accurate and fun to practice with off and on all summer. Come fall, when deer and elk seasons open up, my wife's 7mm Rem Mag is loaded with 64.5 grs of RL 22 behind 160 gr Speer Grand Slams.

The politically correct method is h4895.
I like bluedot. You have to be even more careful than normal if that is possible.

Speer manual #14, 270 with 130gr list start load 20gr/SR 4759 @ 1651fps and max of 24gr @ 1998fps. I haven't tried any of the reduced loads in my 270.

Here's one I found in Hogdon's online data. See what you think. 42.0 grains of H4895 with a 130 gr Hornady SP bullet. The bullet mass is modest, as is the velocity at 2,782 f/s. I should think that would have a fairly mild recoil without going to a 'reduced load'. Any thoughts?

What type of rifle are you going to shoot these out of?

A few mentioned sr4759, but sadly sr4759 is no longer manufactured. I was only able to get a few lbs to stock up on when i found out about it being discontinued. It's my go to for 45/70 cast rounds and I will be lost once my stock is gone. I had some shoulder problems a few years ago and played with H4895 in 270 win to ease the pain from recoil. But i also used a lighter bullet than 130 grain. I used the hornady 110 grain intended for the 6.8spc.

I didn't know about sr4759.

I didn't know about sr4759.
I see many here recommending SR 4759 and while I do agree I didn't mention it because Hodgdon has discontinued that and all the SR powders. SR 4759 was the go-to powder for reduced rifle loads for decades. Hodgdon claims Trail Boss is the replacement, I disagree. Trail Boss is nowhere near as good as SR 4759 IMO.

It seems other than the reduced H4895 loads you can try to find long gone Unique or 2400 data or give the excellent powder AA5744 a try.

32gr of H4895 under a Hornady 115gr OTM has been my standard ‘reduced recoil’ 270 load for more than a decade.

Yes @Mr_Flintstone, the data is out there but there are very few who have load manuals from 1967. I have them and manuals all the way back into the 30's but it's rare.

Thanks for posting the data, I'm sure it will help the OP.
