Anyone have any load data/recipes for the .270 Win in a 15"bbl Encore? I have some data in the Hornady #6 Manual, but I can't seem to find anything else. I'm particularly interested in anything I can find on Nosler/CT bullets.

The same powders and bullets that work best in the longer barreled rifles will give best results in your 15" bbl.
My "GO TOO" load for the .270 is the 130gr bullets (Sierra, Nosler, Hornady) and 54.0gr of IMR-4350. Seat them to approx .020-.030" off the lands, or to max of 3.330" oal. You may go a little longer with your single-shot, but be sure the action closes easily, as you may occasionally need a follow-up shot.
Secondarily, H4831 at 58.0gr and can be worked up to 60.0gr for 3,100fps w/24" bbl; but most rifles of 22-24" will give best accuracy with 58.0-58.5gr.
With the 150gr bullet, 55.0gr of H4831.
You will loose about 35-40fps per inch of barrel reduction, hence the 15" bbl will loose approx. 300-360fps.
Only way to tell will be to chronograph.
However, a .277" 130gr bullet at 2,600-2,650fps properly placed will take anything in North America, but I would prefer more cartridge/bullet for the large bears. (They can "bite back, you know!")
The Nosler B.T.'s will work well for lighter game (300lbs or less), and the Partitions will work for anything you want to shoot with your Encore. I personally like the Sierra bullets, but some friends prefer the Hornady's. All the above loads frequently give better than 1" 5-shot groups from "average" .270's.
Personnally, I've never seen the "inaccuracy" murmured about regarding the .270 except with some of the "bargin" priced factory ammo. You get what you pay for!
Load primarily for accuracy, as even at 2,500fps the .277" bullets will perform quite well. Just keep impact velocities above 1,900fps with the Partitions, and above 1,700fps with all the others and you'll get good expansion and penetration.
The .270 rifles utilize the 3,100fps m.v. to get flat trajectory and adequate impact velocities for killing power at considerable distances, like ~400yds in my experience (actually that of friends I've reloaded for), so your Encore should be good for most big game for as far as you can "hit" it with a 15" pistol ! Or, about 250yds. which ever is greater.
Personnally, I'd get a muzzle brake installed (which will raise m.v. almost as much as the equivalent increase in barrel length) to increase the barrel length to 16.5"+ and put the carbine butt stock on it. It will make a "dandy" hunting rifle!
A friend did that to his T/C Contender. Swapping the 14" .222Rem barrel for a 16.5" .223, he gained from a 50gr to 55gr bullet and 2,700fps up to a chrono'd 3,000fps. It is quick death to the whitetail deer on his farm!
