Beam Balance Height

Having the scale up at eye level works well, unfortunately it's then not necessarily in the most convenient position to use. Using a cheap ($5) webcam and small android tablet or phone gives you the best of both worlds, you can position the monitor and the scale in the best position for both.

I used something like this, when I was using a balance beam.

It worked, but was a little cumbersome. If I were still using the balance, I would either mount it at eye level, or get one of the USB cameras.

Instead of using the balance, I bought a Chargemaster and have never regretted it.

I do the same using a laptop:

Works well, no strain, more accurate, eliminates parallax.

I built a table approx 12"x18"x 12" high. Heavy duty, made from 2x4s and 3/4" countertop. I also have an ingot, approx 15 lbs that sits on the bottom cross piece, and a rubber mat glued to the bottom. I have my powder measure mounted on one corner and my scale is about 2" below eye level. Does not move when the powder measure is operated and it's level (but I zero my scale each use). It normally lives on the bench, but if needed I can get some extra room by removing the HD table...
