The copper vane needn't be centered, just not rub. Clean is good for weighing, doesn't effect damping.

The 10-10 models have a slightly different Vane & magnet system than the M-5 or 10-05 series. This thin metal strip pictured below is submitted for review and interpretation.
Someone told me once but I’ve lost memory of the conversation.
