I'm looking for a mount for an Aimpoint Micro T-2. I'm looking for something rugged that holds zero even when not handled gingerly. I'd prefer a QD, but I could live without it.

So far, some friends have recommended a Scalarworks LEAP and Geissele Super Precision. The Spuhr QDM-2002B also interests me.

Does anyone have experience with these? I'm leaning toward the Scalarworks or the Spuhr.

Thanks.

I think you'll be impressed by the Scalarworks. Cost is comparable to other "top shelf" mounts and they do great work getting rid of weight and bulk.

A friend of mine bought the Scalarworks recently. I am going to wait for Brownells to restock and offer a coupon, and then I going to order one.

Well, the LEAP arrived yesterday. It's smaller and lighter than I anticipated. Very cool.

I'm waiting to install it because I've noticed that the supplied screws had some sort of red thread adhesive on them that looks suspiciously like red Loctite. Because I've considered moving the Aimpoint to a shotgun in the future, I am a little hesitant to use those screws. That red Loctite is some seriously strong stuff.

@Chuck R. or @MistWolf, have you ever had to remove a red dot from the LEAP?

I've removed and reinstalled mine a couple times, no issues.

Like any of the QD mounts, there's a trick to maintaining some consistency when installing. I just push the mount forward, into the solid side of the mount, then tighten to approximately the same 'feel', and it then maintains zero. I do the same with all my QD mounts.

I sent an e-mail to technical support, and apparently the substance is not Loctite. It is a thread adhesive patch able to be reused 15 times. I'm going to be doing some sight mounting tonight.
