Thank you, sir, for clarifying your quest.
I intended no misgivings and appreciate your pursuit.
I too enjoy shooting the many muzzle-loaders I own but don't often venture into unknown loads.
You are a pioneer and I commend you.
Please accept my apology for leaving such an uninformed response.
As a curious note, have you had any familiarity with Gonics?
Fred's passing has left much unanswered to the use of the guns he built.

Pioneer? Nah, just a tinkerer. Years ago I loaded 45-70's with Unique for a friend's trap door Springfield. You check all the old loading data and you will find a lot of Unique loads for old black powder cartridges. I've done loads as low as 3 grains and as high as 24 grains, an many in between.

Gonics? Didn't ring a bell. I did a Google search and got a slang word for gin and tonic. some dogs and a rifle, a muzzleloader.

Fred Rodney left Thompson Center's muzzle loader division to establish his own black powder rifle making company. Gonic Arms
... long story...He built some fine equipment including muzzle loading barrels for contenders..
I'd love to ask questions of a knowledgeable source of his work regarding bore diameters on some barrels.
Thanks,
Jimmy
