Not having much luck finding data for this combination.
Can anyone steer me in the right direction and/or have any info of their own to share?

(Update: See post 15 below)

Thanks,

I can look up the data for a 60 grain HP in my Sierra manual for you. It doesn't list TMK, but they'll probably be close. What powders are you hoping to use?

I have ~some~ Sierra data for 223,,,, including the 60 HP, but not w/Benchmark,,, (Lists Varget loads, which I also have, but would prefer B Mark data)

Thanks!!!

Skgreen,
I just looked at my loading database and I've shot up to 24gr of BM using CCI450 primers under a 60gr Nosler BT loaded at 2.260" COL through my heavy barreled 223 Wylde AR. My note say the primers wee not cratered and still semi rounded. so it sounds like there is room to increase loads. Unfortunately I didn't shoot them over my chrono and my notes indicate this is when I first discovered my old Weaver T24 scope went south on me. The so-so accuracy I got at the time probably isn't indicative of the potential accuracy due to a questionable scope. Never went back and revisited the 60gr bullets since them.
But at least there is some data. I believe I used data right from the front of the can to get a starting load. I started at 22.8gr and had worked up to 24.0gr and stopped there due to the scope issues.

P.S. - this is with commercial brass and not military stuff.

hope this helps!
Steve

Benchmark is a little on the fast side to be at its best with 60 grain bullets in the 223.Varget or CFE 223 work better for me.I use Varget and 69 grain TMK's in my 223 bolt gun and get great results-it's close to quarter inch 5 shot groups at 100.

Loaded 10 each, (info removed 6/3 as it was significantly higher than recommended by Sierra) in 2/10 steps.
~"Meh"~
My 'control group' (some 55 VMax w/Benchmark from my last experiment) was 'clearly superior'.
No worries. I like to tinker!!!!

WVRJ is correct. When it comes to the heavier bullets other powders would be preferable.
My personal favorite would be WW748 with the heavier bullets. Have fun tinkering!

FWIW,,,
Hodgdon website
223,
Benchmark - Projectile weights tested range from 35 to 80 gr. Varget - 35 to 90,,,

(Hmm. It appears some folks 'tinker' quite a bit more than I do!!! LOL!!!)

I also have an 8 twist, so '50 anything' is closer to the ~light~ side of the spectrum for me,,, (Got plenty of 68-75, but, always room for some thing new!!!)

Not a match bullet but h322 had great results with a 60 gr in my buddy's 1:7 16" ar, not cranking high velocity though if that is a factor

Your best bet would be to speak directly with the folks at Sierra Bullets. Here is a link to their "Talk to a Tech" hotline.

You certainly made a believer out of me!!!

223 data from Sierra:

Benchmark 20 – 22.6 grains

CFE223 22 – 26.1 grains

Varget 20.2 – 23.6 grains

Ramshot TAC 21.5 – 23.6 grains

COAL:

We used 2.26” or magazine length but you can adjust that to fit your firearm if needed.

Glad Sierra helped out.

I like TAC in .223 for that weight, shoots well for me and meters well.
But then I haven't tried a lot of powder in .223 and good metering is import for my AR/MIni14 blasting ammo.
I may be a little strange but I also liked BLC2.
