I've missed my Remington 722 in .222 Remington ever since I sold it. Recently I've found a Winchester 770 in .222 that I'm interested in. Any information that can be provided such as dependability, accuracy, etc would be greatly appreciated. I'm really interested in the Winchester but have also located a Remington 700 with a synthetic stock in .222 and was wondering which would you choose?

Thanks!

Never heard of a win770 but rem770 is not worth the cuss jar you'd fill. There IS a model 70 though, if that's the case, I'd take that quick.

The 770 does not compair to the 722 quality wise.

I would go with the 700.

Heard of a Remington 770 but have no knowledge of a Winchester 770. Curious to learn more about it

I've seen pictures of the Win 770 that I'm interested in and it has a very nice walnut stock with checkering and a black fore end. It has a Win recoil pad that appears to be factory installed and a hinged floorplate with Super Express written on the floor plate. This rifle is in excellent condition whereas the Remington is in good condition.

He probably meant to say a 670 Winchester.
Not so! The barrel plainly reads Winchester 770 .222. My research shows this rifle was made from 1969 to 1972. There's very little info about it and that's why I ask about other owners.

The Win 670 was an economy version of the 70.
The 770 was not quite as plain, a slightly nicer economy model.

The Remington 700 .222 that I owned in the early 70s was a disappointment.
I'd roll the dice with the Winchester if at an economy model price.
Else Tikka or something.

I used to sell Winchester's & am quite familiar with the 670, but I do not recall as to ever seeing a 770. I guess Winchester didn't make very many. No matter, after 1964 they went to heck anyway.
