Ok folks I’m looking at getting a tikka t1x .22 main purpose target shoot maybe a little squirrel hunting

So question what scope would you put on it?

For target I’d use a Weaver T-Series in 24x. For hunting, a Leupold FX-3 fixed 6x.

On a budget, a 4.5-14x Burris. I don’t normally care for adjustable parallax on my hunting scopes, particularly rimfires where shots tend to be close and quick but you can always dial it down to an expected range.

I’m not big on specific models but I like to talk features, for your description I would want a 3-15 or 4-16 or maybe more (3-18, 4-20, 5-25 etc)

I would want parallax adjustments that goes from less than 20yds and out

I would want, but not require exposed elevation knobs

Target work with a 22lr means you will probably enjoy shooting at 50 and 100yds. With a scope that doesn’t have parallax adjustments you will struggle at one of those ranges, the Tikka is an accurate gun, .5” or less at 50yds with good ammo, but if the parallax for the scope is set for 100yds, you will be inconsistent at struggle to get groups under 1” in my experience

Budget really matters, if you want to spend enough you can get a great scope that excels in both uses, if you don’t want to spend more than $150, i’d Pick one use in particular

With a fixed 50 yard parallax at worst case scenario it’s 3/4” error with your head cocked completely to the side. For a reasonably competent shooter I’d say less than 1/3”. Aim for the center of the squirrel’s head and you’ll be fine if you’ve got the drop correct.
