You should be pumped it is one sweet revolver. Not many of them were made.
S&W 547 9mm Revolver Produced 1980 - 1985 A little over 10,000 was produced in two different models. This is the round butt variant of which about 6486 were made. Making the 4inch barrel square butt model even more sparse. It is rumored this was produced for the Palestinian and possibly the French police force. It is also said to be one of the most expensive revolvers to manufacture due to the clips that allow the ejection of all 6 rounds without moonclips. Collectors Corner may be the hardest thing I have done. As I have to return these pistols :)

Dang it jertex!
Now I have to go to church.
Something about that "Coveting" thing.

And I need a napkin too to wipe the drool from my beard.

A 547 is definitely one of my grail guns.

I made it to the range today and put 50 rounds of 115 grain FMJ down range. The revolver shoots wonderfully and I’m starting to think that a 9mm, 3” might be the perfect revolver.

I saw your video a few weeks ago & enjoyed watching it.

Nice! The 547 is one of those revolvers I thought I could find cheap, someday, because they were largely unloved, in their time. Well, eventually, the collectors’ market noticed them, and asking prices shot upward.

Kind of reminds me of the Browning BDA in .38 Super and 9mm. At the time nobody was looking for a relatively large, single stack magazine, service type pistol. So they sat on dealer's shelves til they were sold, sometimes at ridiculously low prices. Nowadays they go for 2 to 3 times as much!

The reason they stopped making them is that they did not sell. Wonder nines owned the police and military markets. Who wants 6 shots when you can have 15+? Semi autos were cheaper as well. Now moonclip revolvers are a better system and easier to make.

HKS used to make speedloaders for the Model 547. They had to be a slightly different design from the 38/357 K frame speedloaders because of the rimless cartridge. I looked on Ebay and GunBroker but did not see any now. They've probably been out of production for 25+ years.

BTW, I think the grips on the gun in Mr. Revolverguy's post were the factory standard grips for the 3-inch 547. The grips on jertex's gun are "factory", of course, but I would be a bit surprised if the gun came out the factory that way. Having said that, they still look VERY good on the gun.

It's my understanding that they came with either grip from the factory. The grips on mine are original.

As far as those speedloaders, you can find them on ebay & gunbroker both but they sell for anywhere from $50-$70 apiece.

Well, I learned something new about Model 547 grips today! Thanks, jertex.

Also, there is what looks like an original S&W manual for a Model 547 on Ebay for $11.75 w/shipping.
