I searched the inwebuland for photos detailing how the 629 Trail Boss lanyard loop is attached but no avail.

Does anyone have a photo or drawing of how they are attached?

Shown is not mine - I want to put one on my 629 and would prefer the manner that is used by S&W if it pleases me before cobbling something else on.

I just use a 3/16x20 (iirc) screw eye to replace the retention screw.
5/$1.29 at Walmart...
This one I ground a little to make it look “different “.

Added: OP, if you’re not familiar with the Hogue grips, the have a stamped steel “stirrup” that fits over the frame over the roll pin. The retention screw holds the grip onto the frame by “pulling the stirrup into the grip.

I use the lanyard when I’m using my boat to get to some of the places I hunt. I’ve had too many guns “jump” out of their holsters getting into, and out of, boats. Same applies to atv’s and skimobiles.

Thanks - I didn't know it was a direct replacement for the existing grip screw.

Of course, I over thought it in relation to a military pistol, Thanks for the description and yours is quite exactly what I intend along with a D&L fixed sight.
