Yesterday I was at my favorite local gun store when the owner showed me a beauty he had just got in on trade. It was a "like new" 3" S&W 629 SS .44 magnum w/ a solid non-fluted cylinder (possibly a "Trail Boss" model). A friend there with me knew just who owned this gun. He said he (the original owner) bought it new and kept it in excellent shape. The gunshop owner offered it to me for $575 before pricing it and putting it out on the shelf saying if I didn't want it he would look the value up and probably price it around the $675-$725 range. The gun is in excellent condition and appears unfired so I couldn't pass this offer up. I bought it for $575.
Here is an almost exact photo of it. Mine isn't the one in photo but looks exactly the same except that mine has Pacmayr grips, the caliber marking on other side of barrel, serial # printed beneath cylinder and the S&W tradmark emblem under the cylinger release.
